Emmy Turl emmyturl — The Summerhill School was in many ways an experiment based around the question, "What happens if we allow children to learn when and what they wish in a naturalistic, everyone-helps-make-the-school-run setting?" Regardless of one's views on the answer to that question, the description of the school, the children, and its successes and failures is really worth reading, particularly for those of you out there who are educators. Educational theories do seem to go in cycles. This is a good snapshot of a particular concept at a moment in time that allowed it, in many ways, to work.

Ruby Images lindahowel8af6 — I like Herberts' focus on economics in his books: The science (fiction) of greed driving the wheels of progress, in this case the progress of a stubborn Berkley PhD to expose the psychotropicly enhanced citizens of a North California valley, while himself becoming high on dairy produce. The engaging array of characters and fast pace in this book make for a quick and enjoyable read. This is a good book for Creighton fans to move up to on the way to Philip Dick, with aspects of both, as Herbert's story liberates us from our mental shackles and then buries us, in Santaroga, under our inescapable biological inheritance.

Daniel Smith danielc3d5 — I truly enjoyed this chick lit novel. It made me laugh, and I felt it was smartly done. I really liked all of the characters. Whenever I had to set it down to do something I always looked forward to picking it back up to see what was going to happen next. I did read I Do (But I Don't) a number of years ago. I remember the story-line and the main characters, but I really don't remember Lauren's younger sister, Lily who is the main character in this book. Since I loved this book so much it makes me want to go back and reread that one. I also remember that the first book was made into a Lifetime movie, I think with Denise Richards and Dean Cain - however, I never saw it. I wish they would play it again. Anyways I would recommend this book to friends and fans of chick lit. I'm glad Cara Lockwood has written other chick lit books and I plan on taking a crack at them as well!
