Thông tin tác giảDương ThụyDương ThụyVào trang riêng của tác giảXem tất cả các sách của tác giảThis is a tourist book of the United States which describes a journey that you’ll remember like none other you have ever read. So as you begin to read, just sit back, relax, light a candle, and enjoy your trip. You’ll be taken across the United States to places like Boston, Washington D.C., the Grand Canyon, Yosemite National Park, and many other famous American sites. Your journey, though, will be taken with a Vietnamese author, Duong Thuy, who lives in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The author wrote the original version of the book in Vietnamese, and it has become a best seller in her native land. The book describes her experiences as she and her husband travel across America on a once in a lifetime tour. Americans may learn a few things about their own country, but the greatest reason to read the book is to learn how the people of a far away land such as Vietnam, with a much different society and culture, perceive the United States. The original title of the book in Vietnamese is Tôi nghĩ tôi thích nước Mỹ (literally I think I like the United States). The English version has been renamed to Across America, though, after consulting with the author, her editor, and her translator.Vietnam is a young country, for the vast majority of Vietnamese today were born after the Vietnam war, known to them as the American war, so they have no first hand recollection of the war years. The US former president, Barack Obama, actually visited Vietnam last year and was surprised at the warm reception he received from the Vietnamese people. It almost seems as though the Vietnamese people know more about America than Americans realize. So, now just relax and enjoy your trip. Mời bạn đón đọc. raffaellisara
Sara Wird raffaellisara — I loved this format. This theory is told through a narrative that the reader will find very familiar. I have the audio book too and they did a great job with the production. The CTO dude had an english accent and that made his charater even richer for the story. I would recommend reading this with "Wisdom of Crowds". I'm very interested in these complex group dynamics.

Tzu Hsuan liut9266a463 — The second Lord Peter book with Harriet is a lot darker than the first; the two snipe bitterly at each other while longing not to, and the mystery is a little more gruesome than Sayers usual fare. Still worth reading, but Strong Poison and Gaudy Night far outshine it.

Macarena Troncoso macatroncoso — this book was awesome!! not as good as the others i must say but still amazing! it was a little confusing at first why this would be in this series when tally isn't the main character but she arrives eventually. so it's interesting to see the world as it is in this book, since all of the changes. this is an amazing book and i'm not gonna spoil any more so you can read it for yourselves!

Hissashi Rocha hissashiro955e — It's been ages since I've read my old love Dickens. This one was classic Dickens style -- written in short installments with cliffhanger endings, Victorian subject matter and pathos, a huge cast of memorable characters that keep popping up over the intricate course of the novel. I still love Dickens but not as much as I did in my 20s. My favorite parts are the comic -- he is SO amazing at describing comic scenes and characters. So I think The Pickwick Papers are still my favorite among his novels (oh wait, I love A Tale of Two Cities, too). I'm less touched than before by the idealized young women with infinite patience in tough circumstances -- possibly just because they seem so static and so similar among the novels (Nell in this book, Agnes in David Copperfield, Esther in Bleak House). But good always wins and the bad (who are so bad!) get what they deserve. I also love the atmosphere of the scenes -- Dickens describes so well these places and times long past. And I appreciate the social changes that came about from his descriptions of the conditions in debtor prisons, factories, and the lives of the poor.
