Sarah S sarahsheetf943 — The best young adult authors do not write like they are young adult authors. They simply write stories that have younger main characters, sometimes these characters learn a lesson other times they do not. Reinhardt writes like she just wants to tell us a story. I really enjoyed this book. It was a random grab from the library; I had not heard any buzz about it, but the cover and the topic intrigued me. I was really taken away by the simplicity in which this short story is told. There were no grand sweeping metaphors or deep inner meanings. It was the story of two brothers and their past and present relationship. From page one I was there with them, feeling and trying to understand where they were coming from and I stayed with them until the end. It was a satisfying story that left me happy and not wanting or needing more.

Marieke Isaacs mariekeisaacs — I loved this book. It’s about an intelligent, imaginative, dramatic, kindhearted, and resourceful New York girl named Susan and her adventures “at the top” This takes place in New York in the early 1960s and goes back about 100 years. It’s an adventure tale for girls. Interesting that in the early 60s the author and Susan were talking about how the pace of life was too fast and there seemed to be longing to long ago more peaceful times. This is a fun read and I’ve read it many times. One of my favorite books from childhood and worth a reread at least once every decade.

т T teona91c6 — I'm not a fan of the Titanic movie but I loved Evernight so I wanted to give this a try. (To hold me over until Balthazar comes out if nothing else.) I love Gray's heroines. One of the few female leads that don't upset me to the point of having to put the book down for days and force myself to start up again. I spent most of the book trying NOT to like characters because it was pretty obvious how things were going to end. But that was near impossible, even the bad/evil characters are hard not to like. Bottom Line: Read it.
