Ajikass Ajikass farkmaz18e1d8 — An original fairytale from Ruth Sanderson, who has illustrated many of my favorite classic fairytales, and it is a welcome addition to the canon. The illustrations are not her best work, but accompany the story and will especially help keep younger readers engaged.

Samuel Prince _eon_ — This is simply a bunch of letters between Helene and a London bookshop specializing in out-of-print books over the course of twenty years, from 1949 to 1969. Super quick read. I read it in snippets over the course of a few days, but if one sat down with it, I think it could be read within an hour. It was fun, interesting, and funny. As the years progress, you get to see the friendships develop between Helene and employees and their families as they exchanged letters and personal packages, as well as packages of books, of course. Helene doesn't like novels much. Consequently many of the books she buys are ones I'd never heard of. You finish this book feeling that you are not well read at all! I liked how the letters also bring in historical events such as the death of King George VI and the coronation of his daughter Queen Elizabeth II, and the 1960 presidential candidates here in the US. I was surprised to learn how long rationing went on in England after WWII. What I didn't like is how it ended abruptly, with no author's note at the end about whether or not she ever visits her friends in London. I have to think that she did, at some point. Surely with sales from this book, and selling the rights to make the movie, she earned enough for her plane ticket to London.

Riyo Designz _ — This is a book about Skye O'Malley's youngest brother, Conn, who becomes a favorite of Queen Elizabeth I. While at court he meets one of the Queen's maids, Aiden, who is also a ward of the great Queen. When Conn gets in trouble, the Queen arranges for him to marry Aiden who is an heiress of an estate near Conn's beloved sister, Skye. This book follows Conn and Aiden's courtship and marriage and troubles along the way. Great book for fans of Skye O'Malley and Bertrice Small.
