Under the Dome had all the elements for a great novel but King just wasn't able to weave them into a satisfying conclusion.

Agata Sheremet izoldafunduk — An irreverent book of spiritual depth and humor, the author breaks each chapter into its own mini-tale of personal experience. It is easy reading, yet contains unique views of life and its humility. I'm not sure what classic Lamott is, but this is a signature work by a very highly regarded author unafraid of revealing her warts to her readers.

Jess Louwagie louwagie — I read all the Ian Fleming James Bond novels in middle school and high school, and this year decided to revisit a few. FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE was the second James Bond adventure to be adapted for film, and it's interesting to compare the movie to the book. Already at this early stage in the film franchise, the filmmakers were expanding and elaborating on Fleming's comparatively modest plots -- the opposite of what happens to most novels in their translation to the screen. Later films were adapted so freely that there's not much to recognize from Fleming's books except the titles. I'm fascinated with the process by which a potboiler like this helps spawn an enormously lucrative entertainment franchise. But if you're not, don't go out of your way to read FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE. It's more interesting as an artifact than as literature.
