Yong Vang mandykue313001 — I read this in ELEMENTARY school - yes, they actually had books back then :) I loved the movie version with Winona Rider. I'd like to read all the Alcott books again.

Maximilian Rossmeier maximilian1b02 — I was really enjoying this book until about half way through. Until that point, there is magic and adventure and death and all those things that seemed interesting to me as a child. But then it swerves into a love story, and I can never be objective about love stories in kids/YA lit: I think they're kind of ridiculous and more than a little boring. There is also such a long ending that just seems to be gearing up for a sequel. Like Lord of the Rings. End it already. This was another Children's Literature Book Club pick, another one with a horrible, terrible cover that turned out to be far less painful than I thought it would be.

Victoria La mvpmes78e4 — Any book of Shakespeare is good, but some in less than the rest perhaps this one falls into that caterory. I do wish to go back and read for a second chance, perhaps this time I will enjoy it more, lol I remember at that time I was busy with babies at home, never the less, I did enjoy it too.

There was a biological and psychological puzzle that had to be solved for the sake of all human worlds and for the crew of the Daedalus it was either crack it or crack up.

Cisko Vandeverre ciskovan — The two stories in this book reminded me too much of Emily Giffin's "Something Borrowed" which I was not overly excited about. The four characters (brother, sister, sister's best friend, best friend's crush) really annoyed me. For individuals who were supposed to be intelligent, responsible, educated, etc., as well as not being adults(ages ranged between 29 and 31/32), they really acted childish and immature. I really wanted to like the book more, but the characters' personalities kind of ruined it for me.

Luis Werlang werlang — I think if I had read this book in junior high or high school, I would've been a little more impacted by the subject. My problem with this book is I read "The Quiet American" first and other novels and essays about this subject. While the two aren't exactly about the same subject, the topics are a little similar. This book was written sort of as an expose and it is shocking, but as far as the merits of a novel go, it is severely lacking. However, it treats its subject matter fairly. The Quiet American? Written by a superb, brilliant writer--and is literature.
