Alex Design alexdesign_ — actually liked this book a lot, thought about it for longer than I expected to and although sometimes the character of Alice frustrated me, she also fascinated me. I know the story is loosely based on the life of Laura Bush, which I did take into consideration, but Alice's story was definitely separate in my mind.

Jarvis Lampard jbrookslampard — This is a technical reference work on how to fly selected aircraft from World War II, so it's hardly deathless prose. But the notes inserted by editor and ferry pilot Hugh Bergel are funny and helpful, so it can't be called dry, either. Great reference for historical WW2 writers, all told.
