moatazsamer
Moataz Samer moatazsamer — It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single girl of high standing at Loungbourn Academy must be in want of a prom date. Lizzie Bennett attends the prestigious Loungbourn Academy as a scholarship student and is therefore mostly shunned by the students. The only girls who are nice to her are Charlotte, the other scholarship student in her grade, and Jane, her kindhearted roommate. Prom is the topic of choice this year, and most girls are hoping to find a date among the boys at the nearby Pemberley Academy. Lizzie endures all the prom chatter, although her mind is on other things, such as her job at the coffee shop and her piano playing. She puts up with the pompous Will Darcy for Jane's sake so Jane can hang out with Charles Bingley, but she much prefers the charming Wick, who was kicked out of Pemberley and who, like Lizzie, doesn't come from a family that is rolling in riches. But Darcy might not be nearly as bad as Lizzie thinks, and maybe she is the prejudiced one after all. There is no excuse for me liking this book as much as I did. But I truly thought it was a brilliant modernization of Pride and Prejudice - and not only did it bring P&P into the modern world, but it put it in the world of high schoolers, which ended up being quite appropriate. The whole thing is so cleverly done, from the inclusion of all the main characters from Austen's novel to the basic premise of the story. Honestly, the book had me from the first sentence. I loved that the goal for the girls here was a date for prom and not marriage - really, the frenzy over catching a husband experienced by the girls in Austen's novel translates very well into the frenzy these high school girls went through in their search for a prom date. I loved that Eulberg didn't just translate Austen's novel directly into the modern world but played with the story a bit and made it her own - it works wonderfully well while still being true to the spirit of Austen's novel. This is one of the best Austen take-offs I have read. It was an absolutely delightful read, and I will definitely be recommending it to my fellow Jane Austen fans and looking for other books by this author.

Rasim Abdullayev rasimabdulla — This book was brillantly written and parts of it were way over my head! It was amazing to read a book from the perspective of an autistic child. And what a brillant and brave child Christopher is too. I commend Mark Haddon for not only taking on such a dynamic perspective but for his real-life work with austistic children

_nebel
Katarzyna Knebel _nebel — This is the second book in the soul screamers series by Rachel Vincent. This book follows on not too far from where the first one left off and it gives more insight into the Netherworld and into Kaylee's powers. You really feel as though you're learning as Kaylee is learning, you don't know things because *she* doesn't know them-not because the author's purposefully keeping them back for a more dramatic finish which I think always makes the story more realistic, and helps you bond with the character, as it's almost as though you're on a journey of discovery with them. It was interesting to learn more about Bean Sidhe powers, and I really enjoyed the plot of teen girls dying whilst they aren't in possession of their souls-I love a good mystery to be solved in a book, it's like reading a murder mystery but with vampires and faeries etc. I enjoyed the storyline with Addison and her younger sister, I think this was done very well. I felt Todd really came into his own in this book, it was great to learn more about him and see him develop, I think he's fast becoming my favourite character. It was also great to see Kaylee's relationship with her dad being rebuilt, Rachel Vincent portrayed this very well. I'm glad she didn't totally abandon Kaylee's uncle and cousin, it was good to see how they're getting on. I'm still not 100% convinced about Nash. I can't pinpoint exactly why. It might be something as small and selfish as I just don't find him attractive, which is something that always helps me take to the male characters. Still, I enjoy the way his and Kaylee's relationship is developing, I liked how Kaylee is insecure about the fact he's popular and attractive, and her worries about whether he only likes her because she's a novelty right now. I thin Rachel Vincent handled very typical, teenage worries well without making them too over dramatic or angst ridden. Overall, I give this book 4/5 and I cannot wait for the 3rd in the series to be released!

ricardoffmonteiro
Ricardo Monteiro ricardoffmonteiro — It took me two weeks to sort through what I actually are thinking about this book. First of all, it didn't let down. It was a fast read I hardly could put down nevertheless its not Kresley best in the series (in my opinion). There are other stories which keep clinging in my head much more. I have several issues - the whole immortal torturing part was too long for me. It was really hard to read through it. I knwo it's necessary to the story but I nevertheless think it was too long. Then there is Aiden/Chase - Chase became too easy going in the end, the turn in his personality was just too grave for me. I didn't like regin too much - also not in the other books before. In her book better then in the other installations but she's not my favorite heroin in the IMAD series. The end confrontation between Nix and Lothair on the other hand promises much... Looking forward to it.

Davy Sued davi_sued1db6 — I don't usually read memoirs, but this one was fascinating. It read like a fairy tale, romantic but also dark. The Chelsea Hotel becomes an enchanted forest and instead of good fairies, you get Allen Ginsberg and drag queens. What I found most interesting, though, was Smith's evolution as an artist. Even though I knew how it all ends, with fame and wealth, I found myself rooting for her and worrying for her over the course of the journey. She takes a lot of risks and gambles all for her dream. Smith's lack of cynicism and sharp perception fosters the art of the book. She picked the title "Just Kids" from a moment when she overhears someone pointing out her and Robert Mapplethorpe as possible artists, but the person's companion disagrees and says that they're just kids. It's a perfect summary of the story, and more than anything else, shows that Smith knows what she's doing as a writer.

Big Aison yas6 — Another great book from the Dresden Files. We learn a lot more about Harry's bloodline all while riding the wave of continuous impending doom and action-packed encounters with baddies. It's threaded with great life lessons (typically elicited by challenging situations) and laugh-out-loud humor. I don't think I'll ever get tired of being in Harry's world!
