Meysam Moradi _eysamina — Chabon writes beautiful sentences. Even better he writes beautiful sentences that do not detract from the joy and magic of his stories. The book perfectly encapsulates its own little world and the reader feels and experiences all of it, words, thoughts, smells, desires. It is really perfect, and perfectly engaging. Joe and Sam are marvelously drawn, complex characters and Chabon manages to write a book about the holocaust, loss, survival, and love without becoming at all trite or sentimental. In fact this novel, set in the world of pulp fiction and comic book heroes, has all the characteristics of the pulps: incredible luck and happenstance, adventure, magic, nick-of-time rescues and characters saved from the brink of disaster. And yet the book moves beyond these conventions, making use of them to tackle serious subjects and complex human issues. It is literature thinly veiled as escapism, admitting that escapism is often exactly what we need to get through the tragedy of life.

Oleg Petko _etko — This was one of the cutest children's books I've read in a long time..and the pictures were so beautiful and vivid. I'm definetly going to read the rest in the series!

Kathleen Kielar kmkielar — Beautiful. Beautiful and tragic and wonderful. I was hesitant about reading Ainsley's book almost as much as I was looking forward to it. Throughout the whole series he was the character I wanted to know about most, and as we all know there is always that one character whose story we look forward to the most and therefore worry that we will be let down when we finally get it. When I read the synopsis for his story I was doubly worried since it was a married woman for whom he falls and fathers a child with. I shouldn't have been. Ms. Heath tells a beautiful story full of passion and love. Ainsley was a true hero in every sense of the word throughout the whole book. I ached for him and Jayne and their situation, and although I knew the only way for them to achieve happiness was for there to be a tragic loss I still wanted it for them so badly. I was also glad to see the storyline of Leo and Tess wrap up so wonderfully. I wouldn't read this as a stand-a-lone as, in my opinion, you won't get the full impact of the characters and storyline unless you read all three in order. All in all, this was one of my favorite reads so far this year.

Mayur Deore mayureshwa8ee6 — I'm a feminist, but the idea of breeding humans for or against specific traits bothers me. Tepper can write a good yarn, but it's pretty much the same one over and over.
