Brett Matthew bigbreadproductions — I had to give a presentation on why Stalin was a better leader than Lenin, and aside from the fact that there was never even one attempt on his life (unlike Lenin--although that's not to say only bad leaders are assassinated, it's just inexplicable to me that no one even tried to kill Stalin), he really was exceedingly effective, if not necessarily compassionate, per se. Fascinating (and terrifying) guy. At least we can credit him with stopping the Nazi onslaught...even if at the expense of millions of his own people...but that was just his way, eh?

Allie Powell alliehpowell — This is quite easily one of the most hilarious books I have ever read. Whenever I need a good laugh I come to this book because the Apocolypse has never been funnier and more brilliant than in the hands of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. My hat to you sirs, my hat to you. Crowley and Aziraphale have to be some of my favorite characters individually but combined they're a fantastic duo. The Them are equally as brilliant; so to is misplacment of the Anti-Christ. The footnotes are just a cherry on the top. I fully believe that everyone should read this book. I will always gain immense pleasure from it.

Evan Hart evanhart — Amazing. Absolutely incredible, and I don't know how she wrote it. When I heard about the book, I thought it sounded morbid and grotesque. And then I heard it was narrated entirely in the voice of a five year old boy named Jack, whose entire world, all he's ever known, is a room wherein his mother has been held captive by a sexual kidnapper for over seven years. I thought, "Oh, this is either going to be spectacular or a trainwreck." Survey says: spectacular. From Jack's viewpoint, we see how small his world is, yet how it is his whole universe. Room is where he lives. Bed is where his mommy sleeps. Cupboard is where he sleeps. They drink from cup, and sit at Table. Every object is sacred, is given a proper name, is of use. And one day, his mother decides she has to get out of the locked room where they've lived for Jack's entire life. She tries to prepare him for the unimaginable: that she hates his world and wants him to learn to live in a world he believes is only on Television. This is one of the most unforgettable books I've ever read. 2/27
