I love the first book! This third book was more like all the others she has written but I still loved it.

Poems that are like meditations. Many of the poems mourn the human greed that dangerously destroys the very earth that sustains us.
I may never knit anything from the book, but it is utterly breathtaking. I can not imagine having the time to knit these, but I do have the time to admire.

I was a lucky first-reads winner with Misery Loves Cabernet, what a great title. "Charlie" is a thirty-something single woman who is unlucky in love. She has a fabulous, but demanding career and she finds herself always making wrong choices when it comes to men and relationships. Misery Loves Cabernet is an enjoyable, quick read for all women. I found myself rooting for Charlie throughout the whole novel. I did enjoy it and I may read Gruenenfelder's previous novel Total Waste of Makeup to preface all the characters that appeared in this one. Thanks Good Reads for the chance to get a first hand glimpse of this novel.

Definitely NOT based on real events, but still fun to read. ^^

The story is disturbing - about a fanatical religious group in northern Sweden. Some members relation to God has caused them to perform some unthinkable acts. None of the characters are really all that appealing or interesting but the story is good.
I nearly quit this book on page 20: "In that year of revolutions, she was driving through a time grown momentarily molten. In a growing gyre, she felt time circling her, at first slowly, as if waiting. And though it seemed dreams were being born within dreams, it was not so. It was only Tasmania in the spring. "When at length light returned - strangely, as if curious - it was to a land at once alien and familiar. Bearing the bruised country into hamlets' hearts, slow rivers carried broken willow and bastard gorse - those new Australians of the bush - into old convict towns now unravelling like used newspapers in the wind." I kept returning to that page and trying to understand what it meant. The second half of the book had some high points, but in the end there was something was unsatisfying about the book. I may add a star if this turns out to be one of those books that haunts my thoughts for a while.

Pg 64-Charles was amused to find he preferred the pink because she had put it on him. Pg 79-She wondered that hope was so much harder than despair. Pg 114 For her he shook like an alcoholic in need of his gin, because he felt she needed to know her options, no matter how his wolf felt about losing his mate. Her knight indeed. Pg 285 "Then Walter died as he lived," he told his mate. "A hero, a soldier, and a survivor who chose to protect what was precious to him. I don't think, if you could ask him, that he would have any regrets." We'll, I finished this for the third time and upped my stars to four. When ever I want sweet, I go for this series.
