My children and I have LOVED this book series! They are chapter books that are under 100 pages and are interesting enough that we can read the entire book in one sitting or a few chapters before bedtime! We especially love this series because it is about a boy AND a girl who go on different adventures and you learn information about each adventure!! So both Isabella and Carson can relate and enjoy these books! Perfect books to read to your small children or for younger readers to read on their own!

Excellently written, compelling, and features one of the least likeable casts of characters in any recent piece of literature. It is a testament to Shriver's skill as a writer that she can make even the worst characters interesting. Highly recommended.

This book is very raw. There are things in it that feel first-novel-like to me - some of the discussion of race is a bit literal/repetitive - but ultimately it's very effective and compelling. She creates this distance between her characters and what they're talking about that's fascinating. I have no idea how to describe it better than that and I don't know how she does it, but it definitely sucked me in.

My sister got me this book for Christmas because in real life I was actually hit-on by the protagonist. He is master pick-up artist, and he gives underground seminars worldwide to rich dudes who can't score with women. The author, a regular contributor to Rolling Stone, got involved with this web of manipulators while trying to write an article for his mag. He spent two years as a major player in the underworld of female predation and lame guy education, and lived to tell all with rich insight, humor and empathy. Sorry Mom, but my memories of Christmas '05 are mostly of my rapt engagement with this F-A-S-C-I-N-A-T-I-N-G book. You know when you just can't wait to read something, AND have to manage your page allotment because you can't stand to think about finishing it? I am so excited for y'all who haven't read this one yet.

Although I certainly did not begin this book under the pretense that it would be this year's feel good novel I was surprised at just how disturbing it was. I found the cast of characters so morally bankrupt that it infringed on my attention to the story. It was well written and absorbing but hard to get past the sex and drugs. Additionally, I thought the murderer was revealed too early in the plot.
