I always appreciate Mangum's sense of humor. Her characters are realistic and multi-dimensional and always keep you guessing. The situations are relatable and there are always good lessons/messages to take away. It's like watching a movie where you forget that you are not the character. Maya Davis loves her life. She lives with her best friend, works at a cool coffee shop with amazing co-workers, and has a family she enjoys. Things start to slip out of control when her older brother (the perfect doctor with whom she has always had a sibling rivalry) moves back to town and her ex-boyfriend starts dating her best friend, without recognizing Maya. Maya and Travis dated for 4 years and were almost engaged. While that was 5 years ago, Maya realizes that she never let him go and must deal with the emotions that arise when Travis and Jen start seriously dating. On top of all that, Maya struggles to go deeper in her relationship with God, and her coworker and closest guy friend, Jack, starts to pay more attention to Maya (as more than a friend).

This delightful collection is immediately one of my favorite volumes of poetry-- in fact, the next time someone tells me they don't enjoy poetry, I think this is the book I'll recommend to change their mind. It's just a pleasure; Ryan's poems are like riddles, in a way, but not in the sense that they are difficult to decipher. On a purely sonic level they are just incredible-- I found myself savoring them aloud over and over. They are also very funny, sometimes almost moralistic or philosophical, other times simply observational, but always beautiful and warm and full of grace. Can't recommend this slim little volume enough, really.

I've been waiting for this book for some time, and it finally came out right before my birthday and right when I took a vacation (aka time off the army that is longer than the 2 day weekend). Overall I liked the book although there are some things that I didn't like how Vlad probably knows that Leila is already in love with him and he just ignores it. Sure, he might worry, save her and care for her but he did go with that "I'll never love you" from the start. =_=;; Another thing is that it might've been nice to know more about Leila's past and all the suicide and etc in more detail. The book didn't end in a good note for me because it looked like she is right and all he needs her for is her ability. I hope that in the next book she'll make him run around, jealousy and growling on the floor. Please let there be another handsome guy and lots and lots of rivalry and jealousy! Amen!

Anna bu hikayede mükemmel bir kahraman. Etienne de mükemmel bir ezilme (gerçek hayatta muhtemelen Josh için düşecek olsa da). Ama en sevdiğim şey, yazar onları tamamen kusursuz (Edward gibi) veya whiny (Bella gibi) yapmaz. Paris'te mahsur kalmayı ve sevimli bir yabancı adama aşık olmayı kim hayal etmez ki?
