hey what can i say? this book is awesome! i mean, i DID write it, but i still think it's awesome. it's a labor of love on my part to explain to many christians my age (give or take a couple of decades) certain fundamental truths of the Bible for their personal growth in Christ. it dawned on me one day that there are many books out there but hardly any that are accessible to everyone. for instance, for many people, we learn about life more through media than actual one-on-one teaching or even ministry or through our relationship to the holy spirit. one of the things i endeavored to do was to write in a conversational tone that is accessible to anyone but write in analogies to many different media references. I initially wrote a very long book but decided to break it up into thirds so it would be less daunting to read. this first book takes on three subjects (there are ten in total through the series). i've gotten a lot of positive response from many different readers. my prayer is that you not only love the book but allow God to change you with it, and allow him to change your life through his Word and his Spirit.

A must read for everyone out there. No longer will you spend your days longing to learn more about diabetes. Be prepared when you meet someone who's pancreas doesn't work and know how to talk to them. This book not only gives you insight on the disease but it tells you how to treat it, what to eat, how to exercise, and perhaps most importantly, what doctors you should visit. This, my friends, is one of those books that we should all carry in our back pockets just for those moments when the conversation comes up at dinner.

This was most likely my first book I read by Dean Koontz and he has become one of my favorite authors of all time.

This is the second English translation of an educational and entertaining if painfully pretentious manga series about Japanese cuisine. This volume focuses on sake, as you probably guessed by the title. However, it also goes into wine and champagne. If you are a wine lover, prepare to be offended. In this volume we learn of the terrible shortcomings of wine, particularly that it can't possibly go with seafood, ever. But sake on the other hand goes with everything. All trash talking of wine aside, I think that this book makes some very good insights into the sad state of the sake industry. But it also offers hope for the future of sake. Strangely, this is also how I feel about beer. If you are a beer lover like me, you just might see what I mean. I feel like I just reviewed a documentary, but this is actually a work of fiction.
At first I found the style of this biography to be really slow. The author uses literary works read, or referred to, or written by C.S. Lewis to paint an image of his life. Perhaps the first chapters are more difficult because they are things that influenced him and not as directly evident as later quotes from works he wrote. On the whole, a deep look at a fascinating, wonderful man. An added benefit to the quotations from his books that I now have many other books by Lewis that I want to read. I've always loved the Narnia books but will be seeking out some of the others mentioned.
Wow--this book is amazing. Mike May is extraordinarily brave and inspiring.

usually witty, I like the basis and the interaction between novels and authors...but a little bit too predicable.

Chris laughed when he saw me reading this and would not be surprised by it's two star rating. I, however, was very excited about this book. I love this kind of trivia. And, had I stopped reading early on, I probably would have given it three stars. Alas, I pressed on and realized that since states border each other, there is a lot of repetition, and it's not really THAT interesting a topic after all. Some of the information was interesting but I suppose I didn't need to read about each state's every border. Still, I kind of would recommend it, if you were say, in 5th grade, doing a report on your home state.
