I enjoyed this, though I'm sad Percy Jackson doesn't actually appear in this one, as it's introducing some new demigods, but I liked Jason, Piper, and Leo a lot (especially Leo), and I'm intrigued at the idea that the gods in their Roman guises had other children who've been hidden from the Greek demigods. Quick, compelling read, and I'm already onto the second book, which is probably a mistake, because it just came out and I'll have to wait a year for book three.

After you've read a single work, especially a single ancient Greek translated work, more than five times, it rather loses its charm. Especially when you did it for class. But I do enjoy the story of a man whose very name means 'Trouble' and I still have a twinge of affection for this tale in my heart.

A book of fathers, sons and brothers with difficult, complicated and often secretive relationships - this is one of the things that I will always find compelling if even remotely well-written. I found this book hard to put down and swept through it.

I finished reading this book right before I landed in Rome for vacation...it was really cool to see some of the landmarks described in the book. Fast-paced and holds your attention.

When an asteroid hits the moon bringing it closer into Earth orbit, the world is threatened by constant natural disasters. Killer Tsunamis swallowing countries, earthquakes demolishing land and that's just the beginning.

"I was attracted to a certain people who were considered, here in Italy, as extravagant, eccentric, marginal individuals to be frowned upon: painters. I was fascinated by them because they wore their hair long, washed little, had dirty fingernails, dressed in the gaudiest colors, the most outrageous costumes, appeared caked with paint in the company of beautiful women, ate whatever and whenever they liked -- usually in their studies -- and I admired them because they were classified as vagabonds."

Madness...pure maddening genius. This is nothing more than a collection of letters Thompson wrote throughout his life to various people and organizations, ranging from the Coke-a-Cola bottling company to former president (and Thompson's arch-nemesis) Richard Nixon. A must for anyone who is looking to dig deeper into the mind of the gonzo master.
