I thought this book was hard to get through... parts were slow moving or disturbing... I would only recommend it to someone who wants to learn more about how Bipolar disorder affects a whole family..

The last time I read Midnight's Children was probably about 13 years ago, and at the time it was one of my favourite books. I read it first as part of my Post-Colonial literature course at College, and it completely changed my tastes in books. It turned me on to the genre, as well as Indian Literature generally, and it was my first taste of magic realism. In fact even though I've not read for so long, I regularly use the phrase "Back to Bom" whenever we're going home, to almost universal blank stares. I've gone on for all these years loving it in theory having not read it for so long, I was intrigued to see if I still liked it, but it completely stands the test of time. So much so I've actually bumped it up another star. Weirdly all the things which stuck in my callow under-graduate mind - the depiction of Indira Ghandi, the sterilisation, the magician's slum, Parvati-the-Witch, Rushdie's filmic-language, and the chapter In the Sundarbans - all take place in the last 100 pages, and I'd completely forgotten about the 260-odd which lead up to it. This is actually a good thing because re-reading it again whilst not a revelation, was more like revisiting an old friend you haven't seen for years. Totally. Amazing.

The fourth book of Meade's Marjorie MacClelland series. Marjorie and Creighton are newlyweds and looking to escape to a magical honeymoon on the Ashcroft family's island in Bermuda. Unfortunately, the rest of the Ashcroft family has decided to vacation there at the same time. When a dead body is discovered, the honeymoon is all but over for Marjorie. This installment, though I was eagerly anticipating it, felt rushed and unfinished. The book was quite shorter than the others, and it almost felt like Meade has hit a wall. Hopefully the next books won't feel the same.

Read an excerpt from the book, a chapter called 'Product Placement' and I'm hooked! So it's my post-8 pm read for now...

An impoverished PhD student and an unfinished book combine to leap into the realms of fantasy. Books always have the duplicity of distorted time within them (the time taken to write them, the time that passes on a page, the time that passes between pages) and a novel about a book within a book squares this duplicity. Scarlett Thomas seems to love tales within tales which makes for a fascinating and stimulating read.

Demon Huntress: Sacrificed by Jaide Fox - 1 star If I could give this 0 stars, I probably would. Demon rape, exploding orgamisms, a dream therapist-cum-demon shapeshifter. Crap-tastic. And that's giving it some love. With Great Power by Brenna Lyons -

What a strange little story. I can't say it made an awful lot of sense but it was colourful and short. I didn't love it or hate it. I just went on the journey and came out of it a little confused.

تک تک داستان های بهرنگی رو دوست دارم اما خاطرهانگیزتر از همه، اولدوزها هستند و 24 ساعت در خواب و بیداری که برای من در اون سن کم از داستان تخیلی نبود!

This short novel was entrancing. I want to read the book Sheila Kohler wrote on Jane Eyre.

My favorite narnia book. Just saw the movie for the first time, which was great, too. Fun, adventurous book!!!
