Another gritty fantasy that I found myself absorbed in. This one is shaping out to be a real epic and I only hope that the second book is as good as the first. Dark and bloody, full of betrayal, with some strong characters and grand settings; it had me turning the pages right to the end.

This book dragged at first, what with the constant wondering and worrying "did we affect history?" "did we change things?" blah blah.. but when it came down to it, it was exciting and kept me wondering how it ended up until the last chapter. It was just so good. I felt so guilty not going right from Blackout to this, like I had abandoned the characters while I read time-sensitive library books. So I'm really glad to finally be getting to it!

Um. Not really my cup of tea, but it was alright. I read it because someone said if I liked "Hunger Games" I'd like this book since there are many similarities...I can see the similarities, but I think they are pretty different. I think of this book as more of an adolescent male book than a mom-with-two-daughters book.
