This is now my favourite book. I love it. I wish there was an alternative ending where there was no Maud though, I think her existence makes the story a little less powerful. Also... Wolf Larson is really great and I relate to him way more then Sissy Van Weyden.

Not a fasvorite of mine. I am not really into those types of books but of you like gossip and teenage romance, this book is for you.

The ideas where there but I feel like the author didn't take the book in the right direction. It also was very predictable but it had it's funny parts, specially if you like Jane Austen and classic English literature.

sorta BORING oh and VERY easy
I really enjoyed reading this. It's not a difficult read, but it's just a slight step above beach read. I'm looking forward to grabbing the rest of the series, as well. Butcher gives Harry a really easy voice to enjoy. And, if you're a fan of the tv show, there are enough differences where you can take each as they are without having the continuity expectations from the other. It's worth picking up if you're looking for a fantasy fix that's not Tolkien-esque.

I went into this knowing literally NOTHING about the book or James' writing. This was one of those books where I'd fall asleep after twelve pages, drop it off of the bed and forget it existed for weeks at a time. The amount of months invested in this book eventually made it much more emotionally potent for me. I expected it to go in a stereotypical direction and it shocked me. The last few chapters went by in an excited blur and I cried, shocked, on the metro.

This is a continuation of Satrapi's story, but with a tighter focus on her own personal story. Whereas the first was about this little girl caught up in Iranian history, the second book is about a young woman who is, as she put it, an Iranian when in Europe, and a European when in Iran. The book delves into her own personal drama: her quest for love, for friendship, for family, for security. It isn't as compelling, but still an amazing personal story. Iranians must live two lives at all times, one public and one private. The effect on the psyche must be severe. The great thing about Satrapi's book is that it makes you want to find out more, and there is nothing better a book can ask for.

Cardboard characters; devoid of payoff; sappy. Filed under "Why I hate modern ChickLit".
