I didn't like this book but the reason might be that I never related with or liked the characters. I found Michael to be very manipulative and was constantly looking to have his needs satisfied. I find this relationship bordered on abusive at times. Leesie on the other hand I found to be weak. She was willing to give up so much and would withstand Michael's treatment of her because he loved her. I think its sad that this was portrayed as a love story because of the events that took place within.

I discovered Raymond Carver about a decade ago and have borrowed some of his books from libraries. I recently purchased four of his books. I love his style of writing... the short stories, poems etc. The short story, "Where I'm Calling From" is one of my all time favorites. I think that I am going to make it a habit to read a Carver story or poem every day.

Mr. Crouch's book does a fine job of doing a big picture flyover of the topic of culture making. My only problem is that it stays there. Theory is great but it doesn't make culture.

I found this book on the Goodreads scariest books list not knowing it was juvenile fiction but figured I would give it a try anyway. It was short and easy to read but enjoyable. I would not list it as scary myself, not even for my six year old. It lacked detail but had enough that it didn't detract from a good story.

Pretty much there's no science to this book--no clinical trials, no expert opinions. I think the author had 1 or 2 children and wrote her experience. Most of the book is rational about why you should potty train a baby instead of an older toddler. There is very little how-to.
