This book was given to my mother by Estela, a woman who lived with my mom and her family in the 60s. Estela was a Cuban refugee and my mother's family was the Catholic family that took Estela and another girl in. Estela said her story will never be published, but this book gave a good idea of what her life had been like. It is written from the perspective of a 14 year old girl, which I didn't like the style although I understand it. Almost done! And curious to see what the last 20 pages will bring. Not the best written book ever, but it brings to life a not-well-known chapter in American=Cuban relations and history.
