I quite liked this! Apparently, people from advertising make better writers than lawyers do (see Grisham, J.). The written-in-the-first-person-plural thing wasn't as gimmicky and distracting as I expected.

Interesting view of the characters from one of the character's descriptions about what this government force is like - "we're kinda like scientists with guns." I thought it was an interesting read.

I was disappointed in "A Borrowed Scot" by Karen Ranney. The beginning starts out great, with Montgomery Fairfax saving Veronica MacLeod at a secret cult called the Society Of The Mercaii. She is forced to marry him after her cousin, Amanda, squeals on her. I thought the character of Amanda was intriguing, but she didn't live up to my expectations. I usually love Karen Ranney' books. This one was not her best work. Having said that, it still was enjoyable.

** spoiler alert ** Definitely airport lit. It's a bit of a mindless read and definitely waaaay too unlikley to swallow. Murder upon murder upon murder in a tiny little town. Also, Baldacci has this annoying habit of insisting on stating the obvious which makes it clear he thinks his readers have an IQ of a pencil sharpener. For example, after the third murder is marked with the third watch, set at 3:00; after the other victims were found with watches 1:00 and 2:00 respectively, Baldacci feels the need to point out the correspondence between the times and the order of the murders. Really? Also, when characters use former dialogues as retorts, Baldacci takes us step by step through the former dialogue to be certain we make the connection - you know, because we might have missed it without a recap of a chapter-old dialogue. Still, entertaining enough to take my mind off a run or a flight.

I read a review calling this series better than Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series, so of course, I had high expectations. I was disappointed. Didn't think the plot or writing style was as good. I also didn't appreciate the cussing or crassness.

Not as enthralling as The Namesake, but interesting read nonetheless...

Interesting story, especially if you like werewolf stories. Mason & Lucas both bugged me in how they acted, but then it made sense so it wasn't so bad. It's more of a teen romance book with some fluffy paranormal werewolf thrown in on the side. Fluffy, light, easy, fast reading, so it fit what I was in the mood for.

** spoiler alert ** I just realized I never wrote my review of this book, and since I know you are all just dying to know my thoughts here you go. I was kind of disappointed in this book. I love this series, and I really just wanted it to end differently. I'm sure plenty of you will disagree with me, but all I have to say is that I was with the Romanian vampires on this one. There needed to be a brawl. You can't set up the whole book for there to be one, and then have Bella sweep in and save the vampire world. I didn't like that she had no real conflict when she first changed but that Jasper still has a hard time after so many years. It wasn't believable to me. And the fact that she clung on to Rosalie (and I can understand why) and put Alice in the corner, just really bugged me. And one more thought Renesmee. Really?! Could she have picked a worse name? I did love the beginning though, especially the wedding, but once we got out of the honeymoon phase it just went downhill for me. I have to admit though, I loved reading it from Jacob's point of view. The chapter headings were priceless!
