Easy reading for when you just like to glide through a book.

Sadly I read this book on the recommendation of a good friend. It was a good story with great plot, but if you want to read it, then watch out. It's full of smutty grossness that pops out of seemingly nowhere. And sadly it never seemed to have anything to with the plot and didn't progress the story at all. Also ever smutty thing was described in the utmost detail as if I needed to know that. Reading this book is one of the main reasons that I joined this site. I don't want to read books like this but sadly best sellers are all that anyone ever recommends and they rarely have any redeeming qualities.

Really great 'behind-the-scenes' look at Obama's totally improbable run for president.Richard Wolffe was there from the start so was able to make connections with Obama and his team, getting him access others could only dream of. He does a great job of explaining just how and why Obama managed to pull off such a historic win. Renegade makes it easy to see why so many political players were willing to back him, when on paper he had no chance of even getting the nod from his own party. Obama is an incredible guy, with the capacity to be one of the great US Presidents.

If you don't like this book you may have no soul. This book bombards readers with the ridiculousness of racial stereotypes. Beatty's character's are exaggerated and unbelievable, yet you can't help but recognize the counter part in real life. It's a story of family history, social history and individual history founded on survival and endurance at the cost of conformity. The inevitable fear that we are bound to repeat generational mistakes even when we are aware of them. Brilliant analysis of individualism and the hypocrisy of identity....kinda deep, but mostly funny. mainly ridiculous. You think you're having fun, but watch out, because the message is subtle.

Another great story from Ms. George! I know her books are long, but that's one of the reasons I like them. She doesn't rush through the story and you really get involved with all the different characters and their relationships. I finished the book feeling satisfied that all the clues and loose ends, that I'd been wondering about, had been tied up satisfactorily. I loved the way that in this book she sets up 4 suspects and you just can't choose between them as to which is the killer. I'm also very glad that Lynley and Havers sort out their differences, I don't think I could carry on with these novels if eiether of them were out of the story for good!
