I loved this graphic novel. The story and graphics are full of little known (to me anyway) midrash about the scroll of Esther which made the story come alive before me.

Paula Spencer is so real, my strongest impression after this second reading of The Woman Who Walked Into Doors isn't that it's a brilliant book (though it is); it's that Paula is incredibly brave. I cannot imagine that she isn't real (though I know she isn't). That is where the genius of this book lies. Doyle doesn't just write a well-rounded character. He inhabits a real person. Part of what makes Paula so real is the way she interacts with her memories. She constantly reevaluates her memories, corrects herself, mocks herself for pretending things were good, even in her own head. Can the truth ever be remembered? Is it written on our bodies, or in our minds? That's what makes Paula so brave to me; she faces her fear of her own past.

I'll admit, it was entertaining. It was a nice diversion during my flight to korea. Although, I wouldn't call it "great literature."

This book did not make me laugh. It didn't make me cry. But it came darn close. For people who like Diary of a wimpy kid, but were looking for a more... filling plot, look no further. The hilarious illustrations, coupled with tough situations, makes it a good book for most ages. But no one under thirteen; oh, no. There are many problems in this book, some of them hard to swallow, and the language certainly isn't for you pre teens out there. Stick to Wimpy Kid, for now. I assure you, when you do come around to Part-Time Indian, you will love it.

I liked this story line better than the first in the series.

if you've EVER been to the desert, this is a must read. edward abbey was a man ahead of his time. sure, he was kind of a sexist, but that's what all men were like in the 60's, right?

Really fascinating look at one of the U.S.'s "unincorporated territories" and the power of archives in memory and history, especially within the post-colonial sphere of study.

One of the best romantic books I have read in a long time - no, it is not a romance novel. Many times it moved me to tears.

This book is superb, and no other word can even remotely describe how beautiful it was. I have never met a character who had the ability to tell stories as the girl did in Child of My Heart. She is truly wonderful.

Definitely one of the most challenging books I've read. I actually didn't understand all of it. Incredibly interesting stuff, though, and I learned a lot. (Hello, Mr. Emerson! Hello, Oliver Wendell Holmes!) And of course I love this pa...rt: "(Jane) Addams was a devotee of the most transcendental of the American Transcendentalists. (She is supposed to have competed for the privilege of scraping the mud off Bronson Alcott's boots when he visited . . . .)"
