A timeless children's classic. I learned to read at a very early age largely on account of this book. Not only that, I still own the very copy of What Do People Do All Day I cut my literary teeth on. It's been loved to near death: the binding, long since disintegrated, now consists of three loops of candy-striped yarn, and the outside edges of most of the pages are in tatters. Yet Huckle and his companions live on, as industrious and helpful as they were forty years past. Richard Scarry's works nicely complement the less complicated but slightly deranged Dr. Seuss staples. Scarry's humor is more subtle, with most of the funny stuff going on in the background, more slapstick and less bizarre than Seuss's.

I really wanted to give this book five stars--I mean, zombies, hello!--but the relationship drama and two-dimensional cast knocked it down a star. Still, the premise is all sorts of wonderful and the main character's brother more than made up for some of the otherwise painful relationship mess.

Not as good as DaVinci Code in my opinion but if you liked DaVinci Code you would probably like this one and vice versa.

READ THIS BOOK ... or at least parts of it. If it were my choice, I would require every student of history to read two chapters: the Introduction and Conclusion. The meat of the work is all there; the material that comes between those chapters is interesting and illustrative, but all you really need (and you DO REALLY NEED IT)is an understanding and appreciation of those 28 pages. It will color your thinking forever.

I really like Russell Brand and the only reason I didn't give it more stars is because he seems to jump around a lot to different subjects and stories even within the same chapter. However it was a good book and a great story about his childhood, into becoming a drug addict, then rehab, then sex addict, then rehab. I plan on now reading his second book.

Its written from the persective of an autistic child. It is slow at first but in the end you enjoy the simplistic wording from the boys unique point of view.

In the past I kept reserving this book for scripture reading, but that wasn't actually happening. So I decided to read the book like I would my next novel: every time I wanted to read a book, I picked up this one. I got it finished in about a month that way (and that's with skipping a bunch of the scripture study sections). And who knew that the book is life-changingly good! It's straight-forward and clear. If you're Mormon and you haven't read it, READ IT! You'll learn a ton and be inspired along the way. I intend to go back and read the scripture study sections. There's a lot of really good material in there.

This is a book I re-read often, and is one that I will always have a copy of. I first read it in the mid-nineties and it had such a profound affect on me that I still think about it from time to time. The characters are some of the deepest I've ever read, complicated and messy. The images of Kerewin's home, and her interactions with Simon and Joe, still float in and out of my mind regularly. I love this book
Has anybody read any Francine Prose? I need a recommendation.

This has such an awesome twist to the classic Repunzel story
