One reviewer said "I was so disappointed in this book and I call it bor-delino." I second that sentiment. Add an unreliable narrator to a rambling narrative and I just had to abandon it at 75 pages.

Is this book heavyhanded? Yes. Does it at times read like the author had a list of minorities to include she was checking off as she went? Yes. Does it feel a bit off to have a book lampooning beauty standards in which the entire cast are in fact beauty queens even if they aren't all happy about it? Yeah it does. Does it still have plenty of positive messages that I feel teenage girls would benefit from? Definitely. Even if she gets it a bit wrong, I'd still prefer a book with it's heart in the right place when it comes to inclusiveness and social justice issues than one that just ignores them like most books.

I liked this book but the ending annoyed me, it was a little Romeo and Juliet, and the all of a sudden becoming immortal also seemed a bit corny! But still a good read and I'm intrigued to learn more about Acheron.

Wow...I was so surprised at what a book about a horse would do to me! The author's writting style is utterly captivating. All time fav.

Well that is the last of the Courtney saga and I couldn't put it down for a week. 777 pages long was quite daunting at the start but for us 'boys', elephant hunting, Zulus, Arab intrigue, goodies and baddies, sex and battles at sea are quite appealing. The odd word this time was 'sounder' as in 'The entire sounder would freeze and listen for predators'(page 416). Let me know if anyone out there knows that is the word for a group of wild pigs in the jungle!!!

Amazing graphic novel. The unconventional layout of the panels can be confusing at times but it's visually very beautiful, and every tiny detail of the book goes with the story (such as the cover folding out into a two sided family-tree).

This book was a forced read for my daughter and so I read it a long with her. It is very interesting look at how people react in certain situations. Trusting our instincts in the face of danger. The unconscious clues we receive in situations that could be potentially harmful to us. Gives examples. Pretty intense and deep for a 15 year old to read. Well written and insightful.

This is a nice, short, compendium of the sort of questions likely to come up during a job interview for a higher level, sales-oriented positions. The first chapter, about brainstorming a list of your useful experience and attributes, is more generally applicable, and even provides a bit of an ego boost. The answers that are supplied have a certain artificial, cookie-cutter quality, but the questions in chapters 3, 5, and 8 are common ones so it is helpful to have answers prepared for them, even if yours bear no resemblance to Fry’s.
