In my opinion, Patricia Briggs nailed it with this Novel. You have werewolves that aren't there for sex. A main character that isn't destined for greatness. Just enough magic to make it worth your time. Also a story that made me want to read all night long.

The first book in this series was fun and different but the latest entry doesn't cover any new ground so a bit of a disappointment.

The. Funniest. Book. Ever. The characters were so real that I would actually think to myself "yes, he WOULD do that." The writing and the story itself are also fabulous because by the end of the book I HATED one of the characters but I had to keep reading.

Motherless Jane Peck ran wild until age eleven when, against her father's wishes, she decided to become a proper young lady at the urging of her father's apprentice, William. When William leaves for the wilds of the Northwest frontier, Jane is devastated. When, at age fifteen, Jane receives a letter from William proposing marriage, she is eager to accept, even though her father does not want her to. But Jane gets her way, and she sets sail from Philadelphia on a ship bound for Washington. But the year is 1854, and sea travel is not easy. Jane faces dangers and hardships on board, and when she finally arrives at her destination, she finds that William is not there to meet her. Alone in this harsh wilderness, Jane is going to have to work to survive, even if it's something no "proper lady" would ever do. This is the first book in a trilogy about Jane's adventures. I really enjoyed all three books, and recommend them to readers who enjoy historical fiction.

Learned rather a bit about the power grid - fascinating, because I'm old enough to have lived through the Great Blackout of 1968. Interplay among Rhyme, Sachs, and the other characters good as usual. More "human" Rhyme is an asset - hope Deaver continues this in future books!

This was not a book I was looking for at the time, but amazon had it as one of my interest so I went ahead and bought it. I totally enjoyed it. I want the next one like yesterday!

I had no expectations when I read this. I am now a near constant reader of her blog upon which she has one post about this novel in which she links to a review that "includes a fuller discussion of ethical questions" than were raised by other reviewers. Much food for thought there and required a re-read by me. Still a stunner.
Utterly fantastic book. About a man who learns how to be self-reliant and separate himself from destructive influences. As usual, Hemingway's descriptions are brief but vivid.

I thouroughly liked this book. Seabiscuit was the Horatio Alger of racehorses. There was nothing physically to attract notice. He was ungainly and in a way his owner, his trainer and his jockey were also. He suited the common man during the depression era and when he won it was like all the ordinary people won against all the odds. The book traces Seabiscuit from his earliest days and is a wonderful rags to riches story. No other horse has won the hearts of so many ordinary people. It is also the story of his owner, trainer and jockey and how Seabiscuit pulled them up out of obscurity and made them more than they were also. It is a story of obstacles overcome and victory snatched from the jaws of defeat.

Neal Stephenson always delivers a witty well paced story this is no exception Wonderfully written, richly described individual characters and an intruiging story Definitely one of my favourites
