Well-researched, well-written! Emerson certainly had an agenda to redeem Robert Lincoln, which concerned me at first as I thought he would ultimately have to villainize Mary Lincoln to make his case. He might have easily fallen into that old trap of portraying women as hysterical creatures. However, Emerson's treatment of this highly difficult subject is tactful, and the argument he presents is not only convincing but clearly supported. The reader is forced to look at the Mary Lincoln "institutionalization episode" within its proper historical context.

http://christianbookshelfreviews.blog... Out of Control, book one in The Kincaid Brides series was absolutely fantastic! I LOVED it! Out of Control starts off right away with suspense and mystery! Julie Gilliland enjoys exploring caves and studying fossils - with hopes of her findings being published. Then one day, while Julie is in "Seth's Cavern", someone moves the rope she uses to climb out - leaving her trapped in the cave! To make matters worse, someone else is in the cave with her... When Rafe Kincaid visits "Seth's Cavern" he didn't plan on going in the cave, but that all changes when he hears someone scream - a woman who he ends up having to kiss! I can't name one thing about Out of Control that I didn't like. I loved it so much and when it ended I was sad it was over! But this is a part of a series, so I'll be able to read more about these characters in book two of The Kincaid Brides series. The romance story in Out of Control was wonderful to read and very well written! I liked how there were ups and downs in the story and it wasn't perfect from the beginning. I'm looking forward to reading the next book because we learn more about Ethan - his character I found intriguing, especially how he smiles a lot! I definitely recommend Out of Control if you enjoy a really good historical romance! Out of Control was a GREAT read! *I received a complimentary copy for my review. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion.*
A book that I am looking for years

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's quirky and funny and entertaining, as are the characters. This is a great read and the movie is just as good!

This is not one of L'Amour's westerns. It is set in Medieval Europe and moves across the continent into the Russian Steppes. I'm thinking it is time to read it again.

** spoiler alert ** I wasnt to sure about this book going into it. I was however, plesantly surprised. The story of the Knights Templar was pulled me in a number of directions. Hope, love, Loss. Billi had to grow up fast, not only loosing her mother, but basically her father as well, and the one person she does finds, and would probably have a wonderful life and love with, dies to protect her. I couldn't help but tear up a bit at the end.

I decided I was going to read a new age fairy tale each night before I went to bed. One night, as I turned out the light, Kevin asked me, "So, did you read all about unicorns?" I told him I did, in fact, that the story I read that night was about a girl who got to be a unicorn for the day. So it's that kind of new age book. The stories are about magic, fairies, dragons, and stars. They're also about coping with panic, sorrow, guilt, grief and moving forward in life. Instead of the traditional outward-facing fear-based fairy tales, these focus on conquering the inner self. That may sound cheesy, but they're the kind of fairy tales I would love to have the kids I love grow up reading.

Not as good as the first. It finally picked up through the last 5th of the book and I'll HAVE to read the third since the ending is a total cliff-hanger. I just hope it makes up for the slow, blah, feel this one had.

Obama did a nice job describing how his upbringing and experiences as a young man shaped his life's direction. I appreciated his writing in that while he left some questions temporarily unanswered, he wrapped up many loose ends as the book went along. Reading this book also helped to understand where he is coming from with some of his presidential decision making.
