3 1/2 stars to this. I don't think that saying I "like" the book is really appropriate given the content and the fact that it disturbed me so much. It was worth the read, eye-opening, and put together well. I'm glad I read it since I was unaware of the subject matter until stumbling upon this book.

I've read this series several years ago, back when I was still pure and inexperienced. In hindsight, the Shifters series wasn't all that great. The characters were okay, but even though I was involved in the story, I didn't reread the titles and can barely recall what happened. I dropped Vincent's books when I finished the Soul Screamer series and I don't think I'll go back and check her more recent titles out. (This is mostly because I think she's kind of crappy with how she portrayed mental diseases. I'm not interested in reading more of that BS or supporting titles that portray it.) (I probably liked #4 the most because of some romantic scenes. Maybe Jace got more pages?)

I really enjoyed the Dark elf novels and so i picked these up; written before Salvatory wrote of Drizzt. These 5 books were ok, but that's it, ok. It didn't hold me like the afore mentioned series.

This is another of those books that was widely hyped across the blogsphere before its release, and I was very curious about it. I must say I did not like the beginning. It felt juvenile and pretty boring. The characters really did not snag my interest, but I was determined to give it a chance. It did get better than I thought it would. This is different than the more recent "angel-YA", which was one thing I really appreciated about it. At the opening of the book, the main character, Clara, already knows that she is part-angel, so this was not a book of discovery. Clara is on a journey to fulfill her purpose as an angel, and that leads to a new town and school. The lowest point of the book occurs when Clara first sees the boy that appears in her visions, Christian, and proceeds to faint. It was just pretty cliched. Another girl sees impossibly hot guy who she is destined to know, etc. It's a storyline that's beginning to get old. After that point it did begin to get a little bit better. The two friendships that author developed for Clara with Wendy and fellow angel-blood, Angela. They were both pretty real and weren't completely filled with girl angst. The author also did a good job shading the characters with both "dark" and "light" character traits. Angela, especially, seemed to have hints of darkness while at the same time coming across as a genuinely nice character too. The character that really made the book for me, though, was Tucker. I did not really fall in love with him at the start of the book, but as it went on I just completely fell in love with him. The storyline and mystery of the novel was a good one, but it wasn't executed as well as it could have been. I think that some parts of it the author waited too long to introduce, and I felt like none of my questions were ever answered. I know this is set to become a series, so I understand not wanting to expose the entire mystery. It is better, however, if at least some questions are answered by the end of the book. Plus the major conflict at the end did not live up to my expectations after all the build-up of the book. Overall this was a nice read and some of the plot was very refreshing, but I'm not sure if it's going to be a series I will follow-up.

There is a heartbreaking, incisive novel that could be written about our very recent shameful history of institutionalizing in wretched conditions our disabled and different members of our communities. This, however, is not that book. This was a Lifetime Movie/Hallmark Special treatment of that subject, with an at times preposterously contrived plot filled with almost hilariously unbelievable elements and coincidences. This isn't to say I hated this; I can like and be manipulated by a Hallmark Special as much as the next sappy weeper. But I would have preferred the story of Lynnie and her love Homan to have been treated more realistically and truthfully. That would have been a better book than this.

Investigative journalism…more like investigative voyeurism. Reporter becomes victim, or willing participant. Thank goodness undercover cops, and she knows them…they will protect her…one to guard her from the front, the other from the…er…rear…full body armor…a sexual sandwich. Odd setting, yet a fun, steamy quick read. SSSSSSS!!! HOT!

Take a deep breath before diving into this book because you are going to need it. The action starts right from the beginning with hardly a pause for a breath before diving right into the next action scene. In my review of Mr. Strout's first Simon Canderous novel, "Dead to Me", I stated that this was an author with promise. In this second outing I have not been disappointed. The characters are well developed and the dialogue flows. I would recommend these books to anyone who is a fan of the urban fantasy, paranormal, action, adventure genre.

This was fairly good, though I'd like to have seen more theory than examples/history.

I remember reading passages of this book out loud to friends and crying laughing. Great book.

Okay- so I loved The Book Thief and when I shared this with my mom she suggested Zusak's other novel, I Am The Messenger (she is a reading teacher who teaches both Zusak's books to her high school students). I was not the biggest fan of I Am The Messenger. It was a quick read, and a fun adventure, but the majority of the time that I was reading this book I kept on thinking, 1. "This wouldn't really happen." 2. The main character is annoying and unlikeable (in MY opinion) and 3. Even if this would happen.... WHO CARES? I liked that it was an adventure book and a quick read, but I didn't connect with any characters, I didn't love any characters and the moral of the story just didn't seem that important to me. Sorry!
