You really don't need to buy this, just get the original New Yorker piece. That being said, it makes you think that two people might still be able to get along long enough to be actually parted by death.

If you have ever laughed at a Noel Coward play or hummed along to one of his songs, you'll like this book. It's also eminently browsable--you can just dip into it, to see what he was writing and thinking when, for instance, Blithe Spirit was about to premiere.

This book is interesting because it includes a lot of little known history cocerning Maine and African-Americans. It is also an inspiring look at how well the foster care system can work in America.

A woman survives war, abuse, and overcomes all odds to find happiness despite her situation. A great book on what some women have to overcome with different cultures. Better than Kite Runner.

Psychological thriller mixed with police procedural and some Jack the Ripper thrown in. I enjoyed the current day mystery and its connection to the past, but I shouldn't have researched Jack the Ripper online. I wasn't prepared for the autopsy photos. I prefer imaginary serial killers.
"An acting company conceived an idea in 1594 that it realized in 1608 and that helped it to run for forty-eight years as the unrivalled leader of its time. In 1599 the company conceived a management system that made its actors their own managers and financiers, creating the only effective democracy of its time in totalitarian England." Well, an effective democracy absent the involvement of any women except the supporting monarch. Academic. As detailed a history of The King's Men as can be achieved, given the availability of evidence, from its origins to its end when the theatres were closed for nearly twenty years, by order of The Privy Council, for reasons of plague, politics and puritanism.

Frickin' sad.

I know this book received awards and such, yet I found it to be a little choppy, for lack of a better term. I wish he could have followed one town or several major characters in more detail. Thought it jumped around alot, but that makes sense being it's nonfiction and all. You can't make up stuff people don't tell you.
