Small, but interesting book about the artist's ordeal and how he came to paint flower pictures with his mouth. Paralyzed from the neck down, the artist recounts his struggle and triumph over his handicap. Inspiring. Includes some of his artwork, early sketches, and poems. Also discusses his faith in Christ and at a very superficial level. Would like to have heard more specifics about his faith. Autobiography.

Ludwig advocates eating foods with a low glycemic index. Book contains sensible advice for beginning a family weight loss program. Gives instructions for 9-weeks, each focusing on certain eating and activity behaviors. Also includes a lot of recipes. His food ideas are more normal, i.e. include meat, oils, some dairy, etc.

A very interesting account of Wolverine's past. The best part is his claws made of bone. Just awesome.

I admire novelists who are able to capture the living soul of a culture. One of the best I’ve found in that regard is Canadian, east coast novelist Donna Morrissey. Her novels are vivid portraits of maritime Canada which probe the deep set values of the people who inhabit it. She also recreates the east coast dialect convincingly. “Sylvanus Now” portrays a culture whose ingrained way of life is being pushed aside by the advance of technology. We watch as Sylvanus Now proudly and stubbornly resists the tide of change on principle and because the way of life is in his blood. His fate becomes interwoven with Addie who conversely longs to escape the life she was born to. The result is a fascinating sociological and psychological study. Donna Morrissey’s distinct narrative voice echoes throughout “Sylvanus Now”. She has clearly found her niche and mines it both thoughtfully and passionately.
Gave me a whole new outlook on dreaming. This book passed around several houses and groups of friends. A journey of awakening through dreams.

This graphic novel features gorgeous artwork. The drawings don't seem impressive at first glance, but the coloring really adds texture to this grim story of a doomed army of 300 Spartan men going up against a Persian Army of a million. It's a good book, but not that great. It's a very short story. Had the movie been made scene for scene from this book, it would have been only an hour long. Zack Snyer, director of 300, padded the film with some extra character development. I felt this made the movie better than the book. But the movie will never capture the gorgeous artwork presented here. And really, if you are a fan of the movie, there is no doubt you will be a fan of this graphic novel.
