Hilarious! We're talking chuckling, chortling, headshaking and all. I wish I knew her personally, she'd be so fun to have a beer with. We can swap horror stories, then she would make my stories so much more hilarious! Thanks to K, for recommendation.

Not quite as poignant as Potok's The Chosen and maybe that's a good thing. It does serve as a good counterpoint to his critique of Hasidism in the earlier book, and shows how more 'progressive' fathers can just as effectively screw over their sons. There's a lot wrong with this book, but I'm going to keep my reviews pretty brief here, because I'd much rather be reading than reviewing.

A classic fantasy done well proves that a story doesn't have to be innovative to be interesting.

I liked this book because it was a true story about women who banded together. It was interesting for a while, but I did get a little bored by the end...

Interesting but strange book. I do cheer her for putting mental illness out there - it should be talked about more and we should all be more understanding of people suffering its affects - and the families of those people. She raises the issue of nature or nurture - and in the end feels it is far more nature than it is nurture.

I actually listened to this on tape. It was very good and really made me think about some of the things we take for granted in todays society.
I quit reading this page by page after the first couple of chapters. While I hate being one of those people that says "it sounds great, but it won't work for me" I think that is where I stand. Tackling big projects like teaching, writing and service in smaller packages on a somewhat daily sounds good to many people, but it is something that I am not good at. I feel like I get in such a rut and don't really get anything done. And that I am jumping around from thing to thing, which gets exhausting. I may try to work in smaller, more regular paces to see how it goes, but I am just not too sure.
