I would have rated this higher - I really liked the beginning. I know the prophets are human and everything, I just didn't like seeing both Abraham & Isaac near the end as crotchety old men. ha ha Somehow, I just think prophets should get better with age...! :) I'm trying to decide if I want to read the other two books in the trilogy... yeah, I probably will.

This book is really called The Other Hand. Little Bee is just the US title. Don't let the pretentious cover blurb put you off. It's beautifully written but the ending is ambiguous; we have to assume that Little Bee survives as she narrates part of the story but how is not clear.

I read this back in high school, but I still vividly remember some of the scenes from this book. It's a beautifully written story.

This book is easy to read and good fun, but there were too many profanities bandied about for my liking and this detracted from the plot somewhat. It is basically a vampire book crossed with a chick-lit book but would appeal more to a chick-lit fan than someone who is a big vampire fan.

I espically enjoyed three essays. "Savior, Satan, and Serpent: The Duality of a Symbol in the Scriptures", "Scribes, Pharisees, Hypocrites" A Study in Hypokrisis, and Ye Are Gods": Psalm 82 and John 10 as Witnesses to the Divine Nature of Humankind.
a rather unique adition to vampire fiction :D i really liked it though it was a bit different with the writing style and charectors but i recomend it as it was a good read x
It took me longer than I thought to get into this book--145 pages, to be exact. I love Gaiman when he is writing for children because he takes on this storyteller persona (like in Ocean at the End of the Lane). In his novels for adults he's drier and more distant--not a bad thing, just not as much in line with my taste. Despite all that, this sweeping epic is a glorious study of America, mythology, and personhood. Recommended to: fantasy fans (especially Game of Thrones readers who need a little break), mythology scholars, teenagers on the beach who wish they were anywhere else

An interesting book of this guys real life story of being shipwrecked and at sea for 76 days in a little plastic dingy. I bought the book for $2 and its more than paid for itself in interesting dreams and "what would I do in that situation" thoughts.

I found this book hugely disappointing. The characters are flat and thoroughly unlikable with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. I found the plot predictable which rarely happens as I am pretty easily led on.
