It's not often you'll find a book about a lifelong struggle that uses humor without minimizing the trauma. Not only does Dougan have great timing, she also uses her wit at just the right moment. For anyone who's had a week, a month, or a lifetime of caring for someone with a mental or physical condition, this book will evoke all the emotions that might otherwise be 'controlled'...and leave you with renewed compassion and new insights, mostly about yourself.

A very easy-to-read book that will change the way you think about food. (And scare you skinny!!!)

I actually really enjoyed this book! Both stories in it were something new, just when I was starting to think every vampire romance book envolved the same things, they threw in totally different characters with new abilities, and some really hot love making skills :-)

Just couldn't do this one right now. So much history! But I have to say I didn't make it past the first chapter!

One of my more-liked Shakespeare plays. I even liked the movie version with that one actor whose name has slipped my mind. Kevin Kline! That's the deuce. Yeah, he's a pretty good chap.

One of my favorite books of all time. There are so many things in this book that made me laugh out loud. I also love all the pop culture references, some of the things that I really love are in here. The characters are great and the story moves along really fast. I have read this book at least 5 times and I am still not tired of it. In fact I may end up reading it again!

Zeitoun manages to walk the fine (and what I can only imagine is an extremely difficult) line between being an enjoyable and quick read and discussing a painful and horrific topic. I expected this book to focus on the mistreatment of Arab and Muslim Americans, and it certainly presents a vivid portrayal of just how "normal" these communities are (as well as the myriad backgrounds that they have). But the mistreatment is of everyone, and the book turns into an indictment of the legal and military forces that ripped New Orleans apart after the storm. In this sense, Zeitoun isn't unlike Spike Lee's "When the Levies Broke" or episodes of HBO's Treme, but it does present a more vivid portrayal of a single family (and escapes the obviously true-but-flawed position of blaming Bush for everything). Too many other people were also to blame.
