McEwan writes in a direct, deceptively simple way that might seem to be "easy reading". If you really look at what he is doing, though, you can tell that every sentence is FUCKING CRAFTED. Sometimes that is good and sometimes that isn't such a good thing--occasionally some parts of the book feel a little too massaged or perhaps over written. A lot of the time, though, he just nails it.

Greetings from India, I finished reading this before my arrival to Mumbai in March; am about 30 hours away from coming back to the states and sweating profusely in a basement internet place in Delhi. One ought to read this book to get some sense for what life is like in a big city like Mumbai, Delhi in India. It sort of prepared me (not much) for what was an intense 5 weeks in India.

Be warned, if you haven't read this, that it's unfinished. That's the only reason I removed one star. You basically know how it will end, but you get 99% through it only to find an editor's note explaining why it's not finished -- I literally threw the book against the wall in frustration. If you need closure, rent the movie with Justine Waddell and you can see how they concluded the story.

When the flock is ambushed at their home by a group of Erasers, their peaceful world is flipped upside down. They are constantly on high alert for human-lupine hybrids and are constantly running away from anything that they would ever want to be near forever. As they learn of new abilities, their struggle with the School is brought out to greater lengths. I liked this book because it doesn't take long to find action in a new chapter. The characters have well-defined personalities and they seem very human, despite their being not fully human. The enemy characters are well portrayed, too. I recommend this book to anyone who likes reading about superhumans and plenty of good action sequences.

I have never read a book like this one it has taken me a bit by suprise. Had I known what it was about I would not have picked it up (thinking I would not like it) However it has been interesting and I have liked it A bit of romance but not too much, I like that she kept the introduction charaters in the story as I wondered about them. A bit of action pretty good book--- Now moving onto the next book Torn.
