I never finished the book. Not only was the story a fake, but after reading half the book (when I was still under the impression that it was non-fiction), I couldn't take the self-righteousness of the main character anymore - I was ready to knock his teeth out myself. Even though the book was horrible, the second chapter - when he gets his teeth fixed without novocain - was amazing. The only other time I have felt the pain of the character so completely was during Lily's footbinding in "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan".

What is there to say about the one that started it all? Olivia is one awesome pig. You love to read about her, you're glad she's not your child. The best part-kids love her too.

I was very slow getting into it. To be honest, I cringed my way through Fat Charlie's father's funeral before putting the book down for a couple of weeks. When I came back to it the dustcover had mysteriously flipped itself upside down and once I got settled back into the book by chapter 3 it was amazing(Obviously I had been visited by spiders ;) so I make sure never to change the dustcover back). Almost reminiscent of Good Omens, for this reason I enjoyed it much more than its companion novel American Gods.

Gotta give it five stars. So sad to think there'll be no more books from this talented man. It's a collection of writings, lectures, and a little of the draft of his last (in-progress) book. You'd probably have to be a serious Douglas Adams nerd to read the whole book start to finish, but it's a really nice collection of stuff to browse if you're missing him.

Excellent, one of my all time favorite educator books. Mandatory reading for the teacher in urban education.

One of my favorite books of all time. This novel is both a coming of age and life tale that is very relatable to myself. As a young man growing up in the south, The Prince of Tides really illustrates what life was like in the generation or two before mine. It is a very human book that will draw you in and have you really caring about the characters. I've read this book multiple times, and each time I take something away from it I missed before. I would highly recommend it to anyone, but especially those with southern roots.

Slow start, great middle (especially if you have an interest in health care), slow ending

A very good story with excellent description, charactersation and a very well developed villain in the Wintersmith. I wasn't sure how Tiffany could possibly defeat him all the way through the book but the way in which it was finally done was sweet and touching and shows why Terry Pratchett is such a great author.

I really like Patricia Cornwell as an author. (If I had to do it over again, I would probably gone to school to be a forensic pathologist.) Nothing like a good morgue mystery. This series may not be for every one, as the crime scenes and autopsies are described in minute detail. What I DON'T like about them are the sexual parts. She doesn't go into THAT much detail, but the books stand on their own without that. I am not interested in the characters relationships, and skip over it.

A collection of columns about the 1986 Mets, very much from the Met's perspective. There is a rough chronological order to the chapters, from the historical Mets, to the middle of the season, to the greatest World Series in the last 50 years. But they don't really link together: for example, the article about Daryl and Dwight didn't seem to link up with any of the later articles. The drunken antics on the field did not seem to have any impact on the events on the field. The best story was of George Foster and Dave Scott. Although the author missed the opportunity to describe Tom Seaver's role. Still, the writing is transparent, and the style is perfect for sports reporting. The description of the Buckner blooper is terrific, if a little harsh on the Managers. Highly recommended for baseball fans.
