Everyone should read this book. If you don't believe in all that he writes, at least it will make you think about life, and all the little aspects. I can't count the number of times I've found a quote that I've used at different parts of my life.

Loved it! This book took me back to college... where I once tried to read it and threw it against the wall in boredom. I loved the layers upon layers - haven't read a novel that made me read with awe in a long time. Now I must read all of the Nabokov. Of the several parts that made me laugh out loud: "I trust the reader has enjoyed this note."

Planned a trip around Moore's booksigning in California. Absolutely mirthful to listen to in person.

A good "cosy". I'd read more of her stuff.

So easy to enjoy this book. If you don't have a scientific background about evolution, just like me, "The Third Chimpanzee" gives you the basic ideas and lots of amazing examples. I liked the way he starts each chapter with an interesting question and during the chapter he presents possible answers. However, I found some parts of it hard to believe (like the unpublished statistics of children of adultery), and for some of his theories, I was looking for more evidence to accept them.

I really liked this book a lot. It's very funny, and it touches on one of my favorite themes: directionless yet disgruntled eggheads. Good times.

Beautifully illustrated, and an excellent retelling of the old Celtic folk tales!

I'm not a fiction reader so I'm in strange territory here. I love the outdoors and the cover of the book attracted me. I bought the book as a gift for someone and ended up reading it. The story concept was good, and the character development was healthy. A sign of good fiction writing is when you start to have a visual image of the characters and their traits and that worked in this book. I enjoyed the story. The concept was plausible, and that made it that much better for me. I have difficulty reading things like some of Stephen King's works because they're just too far out there, like IT and THE DOME. Things like MISERY and CUJO I find plausible. Melva Henderson's LIBBY'S ASHES worked for me. It was an easy read and would fit into a long plane flight. In most reviews I like to include something I didn't like and my only comment here would be that a few words were overused, such as "frown," it seemed many of the characters "frowned" more often than seemed natural.

Loved reading this book. Have always been interested in the Coorg part of India/its culture so this was a perfect snapshot of that, also the story that unfolds over generations is very well written.
