A fascinating story, and very well-written. A good example of how genius does not necessarily correspond with rationality or civility. It is too bad Fischer became more unhinged, it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if he had battled later grandmasters such as Karpov and Kasparov. I suppose this is also a good case lesson in how one's blessings - brilliance and a preternatural memory, can also become a curse. For chess lovers this is a must-read.

Social satire at it’s best. It’s a fabulous look into the lives of members of a typical, dysfunctional, middle class American family.

I loved this book! It was so moving. I got into it and couldn't put it down. Grace and sam are characters you just fall in love with. And their love story is so wonderful you feel a part of it.

First off, let me just say this book deserves more than 5 stars! My 5 year old HAD a favorite bible out of the 3 kids bibles she has. She really loved her bible and it would honestly take alot to top that favorite bible. But The Ultimate DVD Bible did just that! The DVD is fantastically done, my 5 year old would rather watch it again than watch nickelodeon! Personally, the only fault I can find with the DVD is the narrator's voice is not the perfect choice in my opinion, but its really not that bad. I'd still give the narrator 9 out of 10. Even my teenagers will sit down & watch the dvd! The bible stories in the book are typical of what would be found in a story bible for an older toddler or preschooler. But what I really loved about the Ultimate Bible is that there is a little blurb at the end of each couple pages with thought provoking questions and topics to further discuss with your child. None of her other bibles have this. The combination of the great DVDs and hardcover book makes this a must have in my opinion. I know I will be purchasing more copies to give as gifts!

This book has a catchy cover, simple title, and the back summary makes it seem like there is some big secret to unfold in this short novel. I finished this in a couple hours and wanted to start cutting myself because of the awful main character and pointless story line. It seems like a story that would have been more interesting to read was Callie's roommate Sydney. Sydney had personality, and what seemed like a somewhat interesting life. What makes this even worse is that I have been to a treatment facility myself and I do know what it is like to be in one. Do some research before you start writing a novel about a very specific situation! How difficult is it to do that? This author would rather have holes in her novel, things that are not realistic happen, and a terrible plot. It disgusts me that Patricia McCormick has the audacity to write a novel like this and have it be a complete waste of time. Nothing happened, there was no real resolution or climax or periodic events. What this author should have done is write the story in the third person since that would have made more sense anyway. Everything that happened to Callie was about all of the other people in the facility, if it's written in the first person, make it good and realistic. I can't stand this book, don't waste your time reading something that lacks substance and a point.

Good read for moms who stay at home. I work, but I could still relate to the characters.

This is a picture-book about a boy who finds a 'lost thing' on the beach while searching for bottle-tops to add to his collection. The 'lost thing' doesn't seem to belong anywhere or to anyone, so the boy takes it home with him and then searches for a place where it can belong. Told with simplicity and humour, the book is a lovely story about compassion, about being able to notice the needs of others and take the time to respond. The lost thing itself is mysterious and fascinating, and the pictures are crammed with details. There is a fantastic short film of the story which Shaun Tan was involved in producing, and he is interviewed at the end. The lost thing comes to life even more in the film. If you like the book, I recommend you see the film and the interview with Tan.

I liked seeing Bill put in his place :) And Sookie wrestling with the changes in herself was interesting and fun. Also a pretty sexy book. I liked Alcide.

it took me a while to warm up to angela carter's writing; now that i've got the hang of it, i'm more than a little in love with her loopy universe.
