I don't remember much about this book other than it was amazing. Also, admittedly, this was my first Vonnegut read. Needless to say I was convinced there would need to be more.

Don't read is if you're not in the mood for a bit of a reality check, humanity-wise. It's a little disheartening. But hey, still funny and bizarre.

I know I way overuse the 3 star level, but I couldn't go a full 4 on this book because of the annoying similarities to Hunger Games. That being said, I didn't want to put it down and can't wait to read the next one! Also, it's not nearly as violent and still very clean.
"Shizuko's Daughter" is a interesting book about a girl named Yuki, who's mother, (Shizuko) commits suicide when Yuki was only eleven. a year later, her father gets remarried to a terrible woman named Hanae. hating both her father and her step mother, Yuki grows up, facing the world without anyone's help. Her longing for her mother and her aunt and grandparents make her sad most of the time. a theme of this book is independence, love, and death. in the end, Yuki gets enough money to get into college, and rent a small apartment. she even falls in love for the first time. this book sends a message of a strong, mature and independent woman, succeding in life without the help of a parental figure. i would reccomend this book to everyone, and give it 2.5/5 stars

I never knew anything about Henry VIII's last wife and this was a great introduction. She's a really likeable character and you can't help admiring how gracefully she dealt with being thrust into such a horrible situation. Plaidy's writing can be a little dry sometimes but by the end of the book, I loved it.

I really enjoy Sarah Dessen's writing style. A lot. My one complaint is that her main characters, which in every book of hers I've read are teenagers, always end up at some party drinking various amounts of alcohol. And sometimes not just at parties. I know that may be reality, but I am just old fashioned enough to not want my kids to read books with underage drinking. That being said, I really like her books. She has such a good voice and her books are enjoyable to read. This one was pleasant enough, but it didn't pull me in as much as her other books that I've read.

The 39 Clues books are packed with action and will keep you on the edge of your seat. It's somewhat of a treasure hunt for various artifacts from different periods of time. The characters are moderately well developed and interesting, albeit a little stereotypical. (Wise old man, Russian assassin, etc.) Probably the most likable character would have to be Dan. Anyway it's a great read and you should definitely try it out.
