I'm not sure what I think of this book. DFW is brilliant, and the essays were brilliant in all kinds of technical, imaginative and hyper-intelligent ways...but then why did I not really enjoy them terribly much, and why could I not get myself to finish at least one or two of them? Yes, the footnote/endnote thing got on my nerves and I couldn't bring myself to embark upon the project that was "Host," but that wasn't it, really. What I perceived in them was an undercurrent of pain that produced a note of unkindness, running alongside a self-consciousness towards putting one's own intelligence on display (which, from what I've read, was something DFW was aware of and troubled by). I can't help but think, knowing what we know now about DFW, that even at his most humorous, there is a perceptible deep hurt and sickness bubbling underneath that despite his incredible abilities, just made me feel kind of bad.

I thought this an even handed treatment of events after Katrina. I did feel that Zeitoun was Muslim and then got some special attention was over played. He didn't seem to be treated any worse than anyone else.

A friend gave this series to me for the boys to read. They tore right through the series and so now I'm reading it. It's fantastic! Patterson really did a great job! I'm totally into what's going on with this series! Max is your typical teenager with a large family. It's just her and her five besties - her flock. And by flock, I do mean birds, not the awesome web browser I love. You see, she and her friends are part avian as well as escapees from a demented science experiment. Who made them with wings? Why are they always being hunted? Will they ever have peace?

This is a great science-fiction book. I really liked it. It is full of adventure and you don’t know what might happen next. The characters seem real and the author did a great job of making them descriptive and made them act like real teenagers. You really get to know each characters personality. The book is about parents having the ability to choose whether or not to unwind their child between the ages thirteen through eighteen. Being unwound means your life will not go on but your organs will be transplanted into somebody else who needs them. It is about three teens on the run from being unwound. Connor was always a troubled kid who found out his parents wanted him unwound. Risa never had parents and lived in a home who decided to unwind her. Lev was a boy who's life has been tithed to the church. Throughout the book Connor, Risa, and Lev make quick decisions on how to escape close times of being caught by police. They go through obstacles and turns but manage to get by. I really liked how the character actions and thoughts were. It made them seem real. Also the book was so descriptive and I liked how it transitioned from scene to scene. It was like a movie how smooth the scenes transitioned. I really recommend it to teenagers who like sci-fi or who are interested in a future world. Unwind is a great book for people who like interesting adventures and exiting scenes. It is a good book and I really recommend it.

The Innovator’s Dilemma Thư viện Sách hướng dẫn

Dark and intriguing story about the later days of Bruce Wayne after he hung up his cape. It tells why he returned from retirement and makes references to many former foes and former allies. I can't help but feel echoes of the themes from Watchmen which was also released around this time in the late 1980s. The story is told in a way that challenges readers via a constantly shifting perspective. Key plot points and key scenes are subtly drawn. It is a story that would allow for deeper understanding with a second reading. We live in a world where it would be hard to find people who don't know at least some passing elements of the Batman story. Because of this any reader could pick it up without needing too much knowledge, but the story includes many references into the deeper arc of Batman's life that are not spelled out.

Great book...really captured the mindset of Hitler. It also shows what it is to love people reguardless of their ethnicity, race, background, you name it... but that we are all made by God and should be treated justly reguardless...and how denying that truth comes from the lack of trusting that God made man. Heads into some major issues as to the fallibility in believing in an Evolutionary theory... I noticed Ravi points out an important truth for those who don't know about the ever present Hell that awaits those who do not follow after God. It is a Quick read

I enjoyed some of Dallas' earlier books, but this one just seemed very simplistic to me. Very black/white, with no shades of gray. The Strouds and the Japanese Americans were so good, so perfect and those on the other side were just plain evil Kind of like Bush with his Axis of Evil. I like a book where the characters have more depth and can show development. The story of the camps was interesting, as was the town's reaction to it, but I just don't think Dallas did enough to make it sing.
