eh...i had a good enough time reading this, but in the end, was disappointed with the quality of the writing. Some of the plot points were completely unbelievable ( I know, I know, it's not supposed to be completely believable, but I don't want to be distracted by unintelligent and unfunny moves), and the characters were pretty thin. I think the premise itself is what kept me reading, which is a mark of talent on its own, I suppose.

I am a huge, huge fan of the Frances books. Frances is a fabulous character who is handled with a gentle wit. But this book is all message and doesn't have the subtleness of Hoban's other books. I was disappointed.

Lisa and Dave get married and immediately start doing hilarious sex things like going to a secret New Hampshire "bisexual club," hosting a contest in which the winners get to have sex with them, and attending swingers' conventions at, like, the Ramada. All in New Hampshire, mind you. These stories first ran on Nerve back when it was unusual to talk about one's sex life on the internet. Now I hear they teach classes on that very subject at local high schools. Good fun; too bad Dave and Lisa broke up, or so I understand. Guest appearances from Best Friend Rachel, my favorite!

I thought it started out strong, but as I worked through the book I found most of the information self-evident. The author repeated himself often and tended to overkill all of his subjects. Despite this, he has some helpful ideas but be ready to skim A LOT to get to them.
