Amazing idea behind this collection of postcards. Read a few and you become compelled to read the rest. Some leave you laughing and some leave you with a feeling of dread. All are presumably true and it is intriguing to see how the people decided to convey their secrets, often with images. A good coffee table book (as long as you enjoy the strange conversations that follow). I recommend at least flipping through it next time you are at the book store. Reactions may vary but its worth the try.

A bang-up ending to this series. Some of Charlie's bits in this book are particularly awesome. I'll come around with a quote sometime soon.

Usually with Eggers' work I become engulfed in the story immediately. Some of these stories eddied around characters so brilliantly clear and so "hungry" that it was easy to become swept up with the story and feel genuine disappointment at their abrupt endings. There were times when I considered rereading a story just to understand why and how it captured me so quickly. Admittedly, not every story had such a pull on me but there were enough that I enjoyed this collection overall. Also of note, Eggers occasionally uses amusing writing tricks which, although they may or may not save a story, bring you closer to the author and create an entirely novel reading experience.

Part sci-fi “first contact” story, part murder mystery, part chronicle of one man’s exaltation and complete devastation, this book utterly captivated me. I fell in love with the characters, perhaps the more so because you learn at the outset that they have all (but one) mysteriously died. The story weaves between the present and the past with a gripping, yet graceful, pace. The narration is compelling without being melodramatic, despite the subject material. (My only technical gripe would be the author’s habit of having the viewpoint drift in and out of different character’s minds in the same scene, which I find distracting.) Put together like a finely cut jigsaw puzzle, the story unfolds one tantalizing detail after another.
The fallenness of man's love for God and the perfection of His love for humanity richly portrayed in an introspective narrative. Lewis' storytelling, theology, and linguistic skills braided into what amounts to the ultimate spin on a classic myth.
Only 20% in so far - but I don't think this 3rd book in the series is as good as the first two.

I remember not liking this book but I think that's because I was forced to read it.

This is good. There aren't too many books that tackle the topic of people with disability negotiating sexuality and desire, but there is it. I'm not saying it's the OMGBESTTHINGEVER, but it really has some moments that are pretty excellent.
