Love Jen Lancaster. Hilarious, quick reads.

** spoiler alert ** It's a so-so kind of book. The story is not what I expected it to be and I don't know if that's a good thing. I hate the ending. I read it because first of all, it is PC's book. Secondly, I got intrigued by the summary-the soul mate thingy. Many parts of the book were boring and nonsensical(?) (dunno if that's the right term to use). The story is the only thing I like in the book. I really like the first half of the book especially the first few pages. I started to get bored in the second part, the 'Winter and Spring'. But some parts are still okay, what I mean is it is not as good as the first part. Also the story in second half is a bit fast. I hate the ending. In my opinion it would be a lot better if Brida end up with her Soul mate, I mean the Magus. She even chose him but the Magus let her go. I really hate that. I really got disappointed in that part. For me that's the worst.

As I was reading this, I kept thinking...well, it's okay, but worth the pulitzer? And yes, the chapter written in power point form is brilliant and an exquisite form of 21st century fiction.

Once again, another thought-provoking novel from Jodi Picoult. I really enjoy her books.

The first stories are unexciting and leave you saying, "What?" at the end as with lots of short stories. I really enjoyed those in the last half of the book though. "Dancing Girls" was exceptional as well as "Giving Birth."

This was a brilliant, brilliant book. It is about a community in Jackson, Mississippi during the 1960's - the wealthy white families and the black women who work for them. As a person who grew up during the apartheid years in South Africa this book hit very close to home. Even though this book is set in America the parallels are definitely there and it is a very relevant book for South Africans too. The characters were so real, and easy to compare to people I've known - even the evil Hilly. This book was disturbing, beautiful, exciting, powerful and triumphant.

it was for sure a light read, very girly like gossip girl in a british setting second book to those girls.

I thought the series might lull but this book kicked everything up a notch. I was surprised and amazed at some of the twists and turns in the story. More than a couple 'wow' moments in this one. This series continues to captivate.

As another bookie said... Great cocktail party conversation starter. Interesting topic, not the best pacing. Needs editing.

SO funny. Her Paradise Beach books *almost* make me want to live in Florida.
