Not being from the Boston area, I was quite surprised to learn of a molasses flood in America. Puleo does a good job of writing the history of this disaster. He really puts you in the shoes of the people affected by the flood.

I really enjoyed Tantalize and when I first picked up this book I thought it was a sequel but I was wrong. When I started the book it seemed somewhat interesting but now Miranda just annoys me.I feel as if its on the quick side, everything may be moving to quickly...I haven't finished it yet but I'm trying to be optimistic, hopefully it will redeem itself in the end.

Fun, quick read! Made me laugh out loud at times when describing what motherhood does to your body and mind. Wrapped up a little too quickly for my liking, but all-in-all a good read.

I liked this book. The main character finds her mother, the fairy queen, in the mortal world.

A nice start to the series and introduction to all the characters. Full of adventure with wrecks, dungeons, gold ingots and baddies brandishing revolvers! I loved these books as a kid, now my kids are enjoying them, and are looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

A fun, fun, fun story - this story grabs you right from the start. Well-written, with snidely, snarky humor and a great grasp of character. These main characters were like people I knew. I miss them. This book is not a political diatribe. It is a satire on politics, but also combines fantasy and science fiction, a la good old fashioned sword and sorcery epics. There are more types of beings than you can shake a stick at, and somehow, it all feels perfectly reasonable. Loved this book, can't wait to read the promised sequel! Anyone who enjoys fantasy, sci-fi, Douglas Adams or Christopher Moore will enjoy this novel. Don't be scared off by the title or the cover. I BET if you read the first chapter, you would not be able to put this down! Get it on Amazon - check the blurb there for storyline. I couldn't say it any better.

Everlost by Neil Shusterman Everlost was my first book by this author. I had heard great things about Unwind but Everlost was already on my shelf, so I started with this one. What I noticed first is that Everlost was far more innocent than I expected. It’s more of a children’s/middle grade book than a YA novel. It has monsters in it but no terrible violence. There is some kind of love story but no passionate romance. It’s more like a bunch of kids having an adventure. The characters were all interesting and lovable. Allie was really brave and I laughed out loud when I read that Nick is stuck with chocolate on his face for the rest of his everlife because he died with chocolate on his face. Mary was an interesting character because she sometimes seemed so evil but yet tried to do the right thing. It was sweet to discover the McGill’s sensitive side (shh, don’t tell anyone). The story was exciting and original. I liked how everything twisted and turned out at the end. I wouldn’t mind reading the sequel to Everlost but I’m even more interested in Neil Shusterman’s novels for older readers now.
This is our current "community read" here in Kalamazoo. I read this about a year or so ago and wasn't entirely impressed. I mean it was an ok read, and semi-interesting story, but not enough to be a huge-discussion-type book.
