I've liked some of her "westerns" so I am curious if I will like another type of her books. And now I am abandoning this book after 40 pages- I'm just not into it.

Just read this book...took 2 days. Dystopian/post-apocolyptic theme in which a father and son are on a "road" in a burned America to find salvation. Definitely freaky yet somewhat touching. Quick read! By same author as All the Pretty Horses and some other good reads

I liked this book. It's a wonderful book that everybody should read. You will enjoy every page and after reading it you'll wish to do it again.

it's just really funny that i read this book! obviously, it didn't have a lasting influence on me. i remember, at the time (the age of my attempted innocence), even, thinking he was proposing something ludicrous - i think he suggested it would be best to not even kiss until engaged. i also remember thinking i would like to kiss him (yum!)!

I don't really know what to say! I mean the book is full of great characters, and it's completely fascinating, but this book was painfully slow and about 3/4 the way through I came to the sucky realization that there was in no way enough pages left to bring this story to an end, a series I suppose :((( I wish I had known that... I love the idea here, the visual of it all, and the message behind it all... but I truly had to make myself finish the book, and right around the time I became enthralled with it, it ended, with NO resolution... cliffhanger... To Be Continued... Blah!

The best novel since James Joyce's Ulysses. Should be required reading for everyone who lives in the United States of America

I'm not sure why this book is called The Cookbook Collector. There is nothing about cookbooks until page 178 and then the cookbook collection is a secondary story line. Lots about startup computer companies. Character story lines were tied up too quickly at the end.

Well written; a little too journalism 101 for me what with the tidy little life lessons at the end of each chapter. Best part was the inside look at Le Cordon Bleu and insights about living as an American in Paris, how the Parisians are not as horrible as they're reputed to be.
