Calgon...take me away!!! So if you're the dreaming kind and want to be transported to another place, this is the book for you. It's decidedly good chick-lit...there's a plot, well-rounded characters who are not only very good looking but are well-heeled (or hanky-wringing poor but you love them anyway because they're so moral), nasty people you'd like to slap and places you'll probably never get to. Yes, it's a fun read but nothing that will earn you points in a literary circle.

I have to say, this was brutally hard to read. I've been a fan of Motley Crue since I was 12 years old...the year that this book is based on. There were times that I cried and nearly vomited from his candidness of dealing with drug abuse and trying to get clean. My respect for Nikki Sixx increased a million-fold upon completing this book.

What hath Eggers wraught? This is a heartbreaking work of staggering autistic tendencies. The book is written from the point of view of an autistic boy trying to figure out why his neighbor's dog was killed with a garden fork. The chapters are numbered by primes, the appendix includes a mathematics proof, and there are several Eggers-esque things in the book. For instance, when he feels happy he will say his is happy and then say he is smiling and that his face looks "like this" and then there will be a picture of a smiley face and some of the sentences tend to read like this one which is fine for a short book but I wouldn't want to read a book much longer than this one because after a while the style got on my nerves. 246 toothpicks!

a classic epic that wont ever stop selling. although the style of writing can be a bit difficult to get past, once you've ploughed your way through it an excellent plot is found and you can't put it down. you will always want to re-read it.
