This is one of those books that you can always go back to for a quick fix. I will probably have it as long as I live.

I loved this heart wrenching memoir because it got at the fundamental damages done to the “lucky” ones, the ones who survive and have to live their lives as rape victims. Not as much of a downer as you would expect, but still fairly heavy. Being brutally honest (the first chapter is engaging, to say the least) pays off.

Simply the best book ever written.

I envy Gregor - he's powerless and doesn't fit into the world correcty - but at least he has an excuse. I'm just lazy.

This was fun to read; I devoured it very quickly. I like the idea of writing a novel based on old photographs, if that's how the author's creative process worked. It was a pleasure to have a nice book to look at designwise. Nice endpapers, pretty chapter opening pages, etc. Maybe this is why I've also been interested in art books lately. I've apparently been reading too much electronic stuff and am longing for the tactility/pleasures of design and physical form. (You can probably guess I do not have an iPad!) It's just fun to see pretty pages and have photos in the text. Ransom Riggs author does a good job of making a story that does not feel pushed/strained to fit the pictures. The story was genuinely scary/creepy/moving in many places, and it was a good read all in all. The ending is not solid--it is clearly (IMO) set up for a sequel. Unless this author has lots more pictures of the same people, not sure how that'd work. Must every story or novel now be franchise-able? There is nothing wrong with a great stand-alone. That said, I am interested to see where this series, if that's what it is, goes next.

Hilarious and dead-on satire of both the academic and personal side of university life. The economics department in particular reminded me of the institution where I worked at the time.

My first book by Phillipa Greggory and I was intrigued after a few pages. Though many critique her tweaking of history, much of what she wrote was based on fact, and though some might be alternative views, the story is great. Told from another point of view, Mary is strong and opinionated and loving. This books brings about a whole nother side to the court back then. Well written.

This book is sweet, and the illustrations are adorable. I read a third of it a night and learned a little about how to throw a party, felt relieved a lot for not being single anymore, also felt guilty a little for not caring about fashion and trends.

Blink! was much more thought provoking - I do not recommend this book!
