Read this as per a reading assignment. The teacher accused me of wanting to read this because of the groovy cover. I said, that's not the case at all! It was a nice cover. Something about a guy who is hired to become Death. Hijinks ensue. The only Piers Anthony book I've ever read. After that, it was enough.

This appears to be your average Sci-Fi series. Maybe it is, but I'm unfamiliar enough with Sci-Fi to have been impressed with it. The book centers on Ender Wiggins, the child prodigy who is specifically trained to defeat the alien invaders and save the world. But what the book does very well is blur lines between who Ender's real enemies are. By the end of the book, Ender seems broken and used. He is emotionally all alone and dealing with the demons of his "training". That is when this book grips you and thrusts you into the rest of the series. I'm anxious to read more books in the series, hopeful that it will expound upon the philosophy of morality and the role of survival vs. justice in life. This book was an excellent launching point for such a discussion, although the discussion only gets secondary attention in the book itself. That's not to say that it's only value is as a prologue for what is to come. Rather, the story is exciting in the way it asks these real, meaningful questions, leaving the reader to wrestle with them on their own before engaging in an overt discussion of the issues.

Reviewed by Rabid Reads Cursed Mates has everything that I look for in a werewolf book; a kick-ass female lead, a sexy were and a cool story. Not only does this novel have great action in and out of the bedroom but it also paints a bigger picture. One about destiny, true love and faith. However, in the end I was left with mixed feelings. There were a few elements that for me, really took away from the book. They weren't in my opinion necessary to the storyline and if they'd been missing I would have enjoyed reading this novel a lot more. The plot is original and I was pleased with its scope and depth. The author skillfully explores the past and adeptly ties the protagonists histories to the present. Everything that readers need to know in order to fully appreciate the story is covered in a way that's not only informative but also captivating. All of the main characters have colorful pasts and reasons for why they're living the lives that they are. The characters are well developed and you'll never feel lost. The pace fits the storyline well and all of the puzzle pieces show up and fit together in a natural order. Nick Radford is definitely drool worthy. He's got the looks, the confidence and the whole knight in shining armor persona going for him. His past is a sad one and as a result he's just trying to do the best that he can to do some good in the world. Radford fully expects his immortal life to end in flames but, he plans to take the demon who's responsible for his lot in life with him as his final act. There's also plenty of hot and heavy action between Nick and Kyla. So not only is he a great man but he's also a great lover! Yes, I may have a tiny crush on Radford. Aside from the great plot and yummy hero there are a few less than desirable elements in this book. I felt the story had a sort of native american side to it that didn't fit into the action very well. In the midst's of danger, Kyla would light candles, take a bath and consult her "spirit guide". Like most visions, they're cryptic and not very helpful. I just found it ridiculous that in the middle of a fate-of-the-world battle the heroine's big move is to soak in bubbles. Secondly, there's a lot of drama between Nick and Kyla. Which is not unusual in paranormal romance, but in this case I found it tiresome. They'd argue over the same issues over and over again. There was little to no growth on the romantic end of things. The relationship between the two main characters just went in an endless loop. Kyla and Radford felt like a Hollywood couple in that they're on-again/off-again through the whole book until the ending. That being said, I did enjoy this book and think that it's a worthwhile read for fans of the genre. If spiritual visions are your thing then you'll definitely find something in this story for you. However, I found that this element took away from the tale and because of it I didn't enjoy this novel as much as I could have. Just when things were getting juicy the spirit guide would show up to throw some water on the fire. A good read overall but it had the potential to be great.

Its hard to believe that this book was written by a man. It gives such an amazing, in-depth, female view of life in China.

I learned lots of good tips from this book's introduction chapters. However, some of the tips contradict info I'm getting from a naturopath. In some ways, it's more restrictive, in others less. Regardless, there are many commonalities, and the tips and suggestions are good. Tried two recipes up to date, one really good, one not so great. The Sweet Cardamom and Currant Indian Rice was WAY too sweet (1 cup of brown sugar for 2 cups of rice? Still wondering if that`s a typo) but the Thai Fried Rice with Cilantro and Shrimp, anyhow, it was a success.

The definitive western apologist's view of Islam and its place in the world. Must read this to understand more critical works that come that take Islam to task. Best-selling author and renowned religious scholar Karen Armstrong presents a concise and articulate history of Islam, the world's fastest-growing faith. Beginning with the Prophet Muhammad's flight from Medina and concluding with an examination of modern Islamic practices and concerns, Armstrong delivers an unbiased overview. She contends that no religion is more feared and misunderstood by the Western world as Islam, and firmly challenges the notion that these two civilizations are on a collision course.

Ah Georgina, how I loooove you! This is one of Richelle Mead’s adult series and by adult I mean this super sexy succubus who has incredible sex with some most of the time, hot guys to suck some life out of them to keep herself alive. What’s a few years anyway right? This is the first book in the Georgina Kincaid Series and it’s just one of those books that immediately pulls you in. Georgina is humorous and sexy all in one little package. She meets her favorite author in the entire world Seth M. Who by the way is my favorite character out of this series! Seth I would have your baby’s if you were real! Lol I mean wouldn’t want a dreamy, hot, smexy, author to father your children? Especially one of the sensitive kind! Anyway so Georgina has to go on this big huge quest to find out who’s doing all the murdering in her jurisdiction. She’s about to discover more than she can handle in this epic adventure. Mead captivated me with this humorous book about an everyday succubus living the dream of trying to be normal even if it’s by a long shot. I give this novel 4 out of 5 paws.
