It takes me back to the days when I was bullied. Some people think that a seemingly harmless teasing and joking do not and should not affect a person very much. But like what Hannah Baker said, you don't know everything about a person, your effect on them, and the gravity of the words you tell them. I suppose it's easy for other people, especially those who have not experienced a rumor about them spread, to have a tendency to think Hannah's 13 reasons are not enough, but it's important to consider the phase Hannah's in. She's in high school and a teenager. Identity formation and status are very crucial at this time. I get what she's feeling, I get what she's thinking. But that's not to say I support her suicide act. I'm disappointed that she chose to end her life, but I'm satisfied with how it changed Clay's perspectives in a good way. At least, her death brought out some good. I liked the premise a lot, it's very original.

As long as I give myself plenty of time between reading them, I always seem to enjoy John Grisham's books. This one has a combination of vigilante justice and racism at the heart of it: how would you judge a black man who takes the law into his own hands by murdering the two white men who brutally raped and tried to kill his daughter? It's Grisham's first novel, and not a bad yarn.

Did not finish this story. I'm only a few pages in and, while I'm sure it's an excellent book, I'm just not motivated to read it. There isn't a draw for me, so i'll save it for a later time.

Loved this book. I got it on MP3 on the online library to listen to while I run-- but I had to listen to it more than when I just ran. It was such a good story and I think I might just want to "hop the pond" and live in Guernsey. It was a good reminder that every person has a story worth telling.
