This novel was okay, just not as good as I thought it was going to be. I'd heard from several other people that this was a 'MUST READ' book! But...just because I didn't think it was too great, doesn't mean that someone else won't absolutely love it. I first read this bookin high school, and I think it still shapes how i think about health today. The collection of abs exercises is comprehensive, and the multi-phase, multi-level ab routine is so much better than most fitness programs that you'd find in a book. I also love their coverage of wellness. No hype, no salesmanship (so many fitness books read like QVC informercials!)...they just outline their view of healthful living.

Typically I don't like Funke's work, but this one is an exception. Though the main character is a bit bratty in parts, it all works out. It ends up being a pretty sweet father-daughter story, and shows little girls that being a typical princess might not be all it's cracked up to be.

Having been forced to read this book in High School, I only remember how much I hated it. I felt that the protagonist was the most annoying, obnoxious character I had ever had to endure. Perhaps one day I will read this again, and see if I feel differently about it.
