Cattlemen v. sheepmen. Very satisfying and sad: a good western. There was a movie, too. (I'm reading it again.)

Agatha Christie often ends her books with romance, or at least the hope of romance, but with Tommy and Tuppance books, she looks at a marriage. We meet the as singles who wind up in the spy business for a while, then, of course, they get married. In the next five books, we see them as husband and wife, having children, living through a second world war, and in this book, going ungently into old age. Tuppance, during a visit to see Tommy's Aunt Ada, winds up talking with one of the other residents of the nursing home and starts to feel that she's in trouble of some sort. Then she dissapears and Tuppance, despite warnings from her husband, follows the trial. One of the things that marks this book is the contrast between Tuppance's happy marriage and this woman's very unhappy one. This is the last book in this series and she send them out in style!

An engaging mystery/romance story that is well-written and engagingly told. The author crafts her story skillfully and keeps the reader wondering what in the world will happen next. Like any good mystery, it has its share of twists, turns and surprises. The evil character(s) are PROFOUNDLY evil, while the sympathetic souls have us cheering for them from the get-go. A quick, enjoyable and refreshing read. Well worth the price of "admission."

I read this on a roadtrip and it probably saved my sanity. It is not a happy story but an interesting look at foster care and a young woman's toxic relationship with her mother. If you are looking for an uplifting read it is probably best to save this for later. It is a good read though as long as you are in the mood.

I'm obsessed with the problem of how to create honest fairy tales in dark times, ones that still allow for hope. I think this book is one of the answers.

This is one of my all time favorite books. I was just reminded how very much information is packed inside by a good friend who recently gave me a copy.

I really enjoyed this book. It is written from the point of view of someone that has become so busy that she has lost sight of what life is all about. She finds it again by spending some time by the sea.

Really cute story - especially since I live in Seattle and it is set here. I knew so many of the places she talked about.
